Sand & Sea Cards for Classes in April

 Hi there,

Well I've chosen to do my card class in April using the fabulous Sand & Sea Suite collection.  I just love the way the stamps match the dies and even the embossing folder. Oh and the fabulous Pearlescent Specialty Paper......

When you use them, just so you know; Cut, Stamp then Emboss!

Anyway on to the cards that you'll be creating in my classes this month......

I'm really happy with the way this card turned out, I really wanted this big conch shell to stand out on the card, as totally unique.  In "real life" the shell has the beautiful pearl look from the Pearlescent paper.

This next card I was hoping would work as either a guy or gal card, I hope you can see the gold flecks in the card stock (looks even greater in real life lol)

 

Then the last card is a 3D corner fancy fold card, using some of the Sand & Sea Designer Series Paper

 

I also love these little Opal rounds that I've used here to prop up the easel part of this card 

(they're so pretty!) 

Well, that's the cards for the month.   Class dates are: Thursday 8th April 7pm, Tuesday 13th  at 10.30am and Wednesday 21st at 10.30am.  If you would prefer to do the class at home in your own time I can mail the class out however I can't stamp the images for you, so you'd need to find some other sayings (or of course purchase the set!😀)

Cost for the Class $20 includes all card stock, full instructions and envelopes. Or $14 for the class if you purchase the suite from me.  If you can't make it to any of the classes but do purchase the suite through me I will happily email the instructions to you (although you may need to remind me - holidays are coming up!!).  Let me know if you'd like to do the class but can't make one of the class dates as I'm happy to schedule more 😊

Cute Pop-Open Box

 Hi there Creators,

I did a Facebook live video a couple of weeks ago on this cute pop open box, and thought I'd share it here for you too, I've finally got round to uploading it to YouTube today!

Here is the first box I made:

I've used the beautiful Hydrangea Hill designer series paper, then I made this one in the video

I had been scrolling around on the internet and found it but of course it was American and used imperial measurements not metric, so I've converted it to metric - specifically tailored to an A5 sheet.

 

This is my roughly written out instructions that I use, however just in case the markings aren't making enough sense.....

Take your sheet of A5 in landscape, and score it at 1cm and 10cm,

Then in portrait score it 2cm in one side and 2.5cm the other side

On the 2.5cm side you need to cut at 6cm and 16cm (only up to the 2.5cm scored line)

trim off the little bits as shown in the 1cm scored portion

Using a bone folder you'll need to score the diagonal lines then fold everything.  Attach the 1cm flap round to the other side of the box to form a flat tube, then push open the base, and attach it down to form the base of your box (you'll see what I mean in the video!)

The patterned paper I used 9.5cm square, find the 1/2 way mark at the bottom end, and cut from one top corner diagonally to the 1/2 way point, then repeat for the other side and attach it in  place.

Creating Pearly Paper

 Hi there Creators,

I was surfing YouTube the other day looking for nothing in particular and came across a video from a lady in the State called Linda Heller who was showing how to create Pearlized paper, I thought it was so cool that I had to have a go too!

It involves Cardstock, a blending brush and a pot of Frost White Shimmer Paint (so tempting to say a pot of gold lol)

 

 

Anyway, moving on...... the general gist is you use the blending brush to brush the card stock with the frost white shimmer paint, and then do whatever you're going to do with it, here's what I did!...

I've used the amazing Sand & Sea Suite, in particular the Friends are like Seashells bundle and the Seashells 3D embossing folder (it pack a really WOW!)

Sadly it's really hard to capture the pearly effect it gives in a photo (or at least it is for me!)  However I've made a little video to go with it, so do check this out too:

Gilded Leafing and ways to stick it!

I showed this on my facebook page the other day, but I know not everyone is a fan of FB so I'm sharing it here for you too 😊

I've now uploaded the video to YouTube, which I'll include in this blog post, however a quick run down of what's in it.....

So when you first get your Gilded Leafing, you'll need a bigger pot to put it into and a sponge or brush to help wipe off the excess.  HOWEVER.... it is soooo worth it!

you can purchase Heat & Stick Powder which means you can turn your stamps into gilded images like this:

you can pretty much use any glue to apply the gilded leafing, the next example I have is using the Tear & Tape Adhesive (ultra easy!)

After that I've used the Adhesive sheeting: attached it to cardstock, then layered on my Fine Art Floral Designer Series Paper, then dunked into the gilded leafing

I did use the Stampin' Seal and glue dots, which look great for a small embellishment!,  but haven't got round to making anything up with those samples yet, so then the other way I show in the video is using Tombow, and embossing cardstock through the Stampin' Cut and Emboss Machine, then, you can paint it on with an water painter, if you need to be precise with where it goes, dab it on with a sponge, if you're happy for it to be more random, or glue up a silicone mat, spread the glue out thinly and press the embossed card to the glue (you do have to be careful with this method, as otherwise glue goes everywhere and the gilded leafing in turn sticks everywhere lol)

I think this example was with the water painter!

Easy cards with Washi Tape

 Hi there Creators, 

If you check out my Something Saturdays then you'll know about my quick/easy/cheap washi tape card tutorial this morning!    However if you missed it/ wanted a refresher or aren't FB minded, then this is for you 😁

Stampin' Up! doesn't currently have any washi tape, but that doesn't mean that I don't have heaps lol  So I've gone with 3 strips of washi tape, 3 little mini flowers using the small bloom punch, add some Gold Glitter Enamel Dots, and a saying, and you have yourself easy cards:

I have just made sure that my 3 strips of washi cross over somewhere on the card and then added the flowers on top,  There's a little trick I've used in the video to make the little green leaves that I've popped behind the flowers just a way of using the punch in a different way!

The other cards I showed were Christmas cards, then I showed a little trick of cutting the flower to look like a star for the top of the tree:

Roll Up Box

 Hi there Creators

Well this morning I did my Facebook live video on a little roll up box, it's so cute!  I said I'd share the measurements etc with you on a blog post, so here it is.......

but first some photos to whet your appetite 😊

 

Now for the measurements......

Take your A4 piece of card I used the Stampin' Up! Basic White Thick Card, as it's nice and strong, and score lengthwise at 4.95cm (just a fraction before the 5cm mark)  I actually made a quick mark on my Paper Cutter as just about all the measurements are this)  move it along and score it at the next 4.95cm (ie 9.9cm), move it along again and cut it off at the next 4.95cm mark (ie 14.85cm).

Turn the card stock and score 4.95cm, move along and repeat (should be 9.9cm) then I recommend you turn the card stock around and repeat from the other side don't do what I did in the video! - let me make the mistakes for you lol

Next cut the "flaps"  check out the rough diagram below;

 Once this is done you'll need Designer series paper cut to: 24 squares of 4.5cm and 4 rectangles of 4.5cm x 9cm, stick them into the appropriate places.

Then move onto the lid:  this is 12cm x 7cm, then 1cm scored all the way round, then cut the flaps, again see diagram below:  stick the little corner flaps in behind the end flaps to create your lid, and attach another piece of 4.5cm x 9cm Designer Series Paper onto it.

Fingers crossed your lid should now fit snugly onto your box, now you can have fun rolling your box up and down 😀

2 Quick, Easy but gorgeous cards!

 Hi there Creators, 

well this morning I did my Facebook live and thought I might share what I made with you, hopefully by the time I've finished the write up the video will be uploaded to YouTube and I can add it to here too!

Anyway I started off my video showing how I cut and score my cardstock to create my base cards, actually I score it, then cut it, as it cuts down on one step (no pun intended)  So I score the card all the way down the sheet at 10.5cm, and if I need to do a few I'll get the lot scored first, then move onto my cutter, and the 1/2 way mark for A4 paper is 14.8cm, I know my trusty Paper Trimmer will cut at least 2 pieces of card in one go, so that makes it a bit quicker too.

Anyway onto the cards, I've cut my Designer Series Paper to 5 3/4" x 4"  the piece of plain card for the top part is 1cm less all round, so cut to 13.8cm x 9.5cm.  I have used the Sale-a-Bration Flower & Field Designer Series Paper which is only available when you purchase $90 of goodies from the catalogues, then you can choose it for free!  That's right, during Sale-a-Bration you get rewarded for orders of $90+, Bonus!!

I took the white card and made 2 diagonal cuts in it, the middle one is for one card and the other 2 pieces go on the other card.  As you can see I've taken more of the pretty "Flower & Field Designer Series Paper" and fussy cut some of the images, they don't have to be complete images as you can "hide" the lost bits under others.  I have used the lovely stamp set from Hello Dear Friend All inclusive card kit as I really like the writing, and I thought the flower and leaves really suited this paper well.

The Blue flower in the photo below is missing the left and bottom of the image, but it's covered well with the other flowers so you wouldn't know!

And on this one the 2 pink flowers are missing 1/2 of their image!

How cute is this little flower from the Hello Dear friend All inclusive Card kit and doesn't it suit this paper so well?  I've also used one of the Opal Rounds embellishments (as this card had a smudge I needed to cover!)

Oh and look at that, the video has managed to upload to YouTube, so I'll attach that too. yay!
