Something Saturday - Paper Pumpkin Alternatives July 2026

Hi There Creators

Yep it's Paper Pumpkin time of the month!  This Months kit is called "Hooray for Birthdays" And this month I decided rather than to show you how to create the cards in the pack, I'd make up a heap of alternatives and a couple more in my video....  And guess what?  If you're new to PP, and you subscribe for the August Paper Pumpkin, you'll get 25% off!! (you must subscribe by 10th August) so rather than $48 you'll only pay $36 (bargain) and it looks gorgeous from the snippets shown. (click the link!)

So this is what July's kit actually makes, -  3 each of each of these gorgeous Easel cards (9 cards total)

paper pumpkin alternatives, Hooray for Birthdays, July 2026

Then I got to work on "alternatives"  I actually love the challenge of using up the entire kit, which is what I succeeded in doing, and the only extras I used were 2 other ink pads (Garden Green and Hydrangea Hue), blending brushes, white cardstock and glues. The kit comes with a Timid Tiger mini Ink Pad, and I would have used Peaceful Pine for the green, but it's packed currently!, and the reason I would have used it is because it was in one of the other Paper Pumpkins)

Anyway onto more photos.... I made these up before the video.  When you cut the cards in 1/2 you can use the back and front of the gorgeous cardstock and stick it onto a base card, and in order to give it a nice gap round, you end up cutting off strips which are handy to use on other cards.

Then I also made these 2 before the video, by cutting the hexagon shape in 1/2 and figured it would make a cute "pocket" and banner.  I've added dotted lines along the top of the "pocket".

Lastly in the video I made up 2 of these (the oval shaped one, by using 2 ovals togethers to create a cute little card)  and the green, orange and blue one, then ironically still had a heap of flowers and tags left over, so the one with all the blue flowers was created with the last of the pieces!  Couldn't decide on a saying so left it blank.

Well I have to say this is a beautiful kit!
and did you know if you are a subscriber you can pick up past kits and refills?  Check out this page:  Past PP kits etc

Something Saturday - Stockings & Poinsettias

 Hi There Creators

Well today I'm finally showing off the Impressions plate, and the absolutely gorgeous Pretty Poinsettia Bundle, then inadvertently also showing the Stitched Stocking Bundle, the Shimmering Stripes Specialty Paper (Oh my goodness if you love shimmery, shiny things this is a must have!) and it all paired rather nicely with the In Colour Flat Pearls, so here goes......

The card I made up in the video is this one, using the Stitched Stocking stamps in the background, the big stocking die, then the dies from the Poinsettia bundle embossed into the stocking (which just happens to be cut from Shimmering Stripes paper)😃 Oh I also used some of the Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers) to colour in the Joy, then couldn't resist putting a spot of Wink of Stella over top (you can never have enough bling!)

pretty poinsettia, Stitched Stocking, Stampin' Up!
thought I should give you a close up of the Joy, I added the wink of stella over the blends, then coloured in the 3 rhinestones with the blends too, so they blend in nicely
pretty poinsettia, Stitched Stocking, Stampin' Up!

Ok then I had a couple of other ideas. This one uses the same goodies, only I've coloured over the shimmering stripes paper with Stampin' Blends

pretty poinsettia, Stitched Stocking, Stampin' Up!

This next one is a bit different..... I've drawn freehand crosshatching between the flowers and leaves to give a completely different textured look, with the ribbon adding a pop of colour, what do you think?

August CreateAlong - Go Tropical!

 Hi There Creators

Thought I'd let you know about the upcoming Go Tropical  🦩🍹🌴August CreateAlong!

What's a CreateAlong?  It's where you order yourself a pack then on the designated day CreateAlong with me (that's the theory)  Actually with my CreateAlongs, you can join in any time after it goes "live" as my videos are pre-recorded, which means you can stop & start it at any time 😃

This one will go live on 15th August, but you need to order it before 28th July as I'll be ordering for it that day.  The cost of the kit is $40 (plus postage of $5.10 if needed) ask me for payment details.

Here is the photo "conglomerate"  I needed to create something that made me feel warmer 🤣 - although in fact the new foiling machine does give me warm & fuzzies (in particular the heat coming from the pad! lol)

Being CreateAble with Heather, Stampin' Up!, CreateAlong

These are the goodies I've used in these cards, and if you order the pack you'll be getting 1/2 or 1/4 packs of each, they will be cut to size, although I feel I should put a disclaimer out that there is fussy cutting involved with this kit.

Beach Boardwalk DSP

Sincerely Noted Mix & Match Ephemera Pack

Everyday Borders Accents

Array of Dots embellishments

and obviously other cardstocks

Hope you can join in

Something Saturday - Oooo something new.....

 Hi There Creators,

Well..... I never thought I'd "need" a foiling machine & extras (like Dies!), but they say don't knock it till you've tried it🤣 (click the link to check it out)  Oh and if you purchase one at the moment, you also get a craft class thrown in for good measure😉  I actually recommend if you are considering it, joining my team and getting the discount on it (and on the extras... and more.....)  Check out this link if you're seriously considering the pro's of joining my team:  Join Heather's Team (can't think of any con's lol)

Oh, my goodness, I'm so glad I did buy one, it gives such an incredibly professional look!  I said in the video I'd make up a heap of cards, and I confess I played a fair bit with it, but then got side-tracked by needing to prep for my Mega Christmas in July class (next Saturday eek!), and because I'm prepping out in my classroom, and not my craft room (there's a difference trust me🤣)  I then ended up with no Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, or paper trimmer in my craft room, it was dark and suffice it to say tearing works, so here is my offering...... (lots of photos but only 2 actually made cards)

The first card I made for my son's girlfriend with some bits I had lying around, she passed her driving test - yay! this uses one of the sayings from Classic Greetings

Then this was the "tear it because I don't want to go back out to my classroom" one🤣 and it uses the negative image of Garden Silhouette (and one of the sayings from above set)
and a close up

however here are some of the pieces I made and have yet to create into something...
My newly arrived Luxe Alphabet  absolutely LOVE the numbers in particular!

and (again newly arrived) Sweetly Sentimental.

with the negative of it too....

Some of my negatives didn't work so well, and I kind of figured it works to make them 'grungy', so I've just added a different colour to fill in the gaps, which I think works well (although having said that I've yet to make anything with them)

These next ones use the Flourish & Frames set and the Classic Greetings again - little difficult to photograph!

And last but not least the original plus negative of combining the 2 sets again

Phew that was a bit of a marathon, - what do you think?  want to come and try out mine, or just buy your own.

Just a quick bit of background, this is a new to market product, designed with another company, but they are holding off on releasing theirs so we get the first cab off the rank, as it were, and it actually really well priced compared to other ones I found that are similar 😃

If you missed the video here it is:

Let me know if you want to come & check mine out, or if you are already a foiling "pro" maybe you can give me tips!

I hope this inspires you to create in your own space.
God Bless love

Something Saturday - Paper Pumpkin Add on Dies: Detailed Flora

 Hi There Creators

Well today I thought I'd play around with the Detailed Flora Dies only $23 (bargain!)😃  However the catch is, you can only get these dies if you subscribe to Paper Pumpkin, therefore if you fall in love with them, you'll need to order yourself a paper pumpkin subscription for at least one month! (check it out here: Paper Pumpkin)  I have just noticed that the full kit from a couple of months ago (Lakeside Retreat) is also now available under the "Add On's" (Lots of people have loved this kit! fabulous for guys cards!)  I also used the Bubble Bath Faux Linen Ribbon  and the Scalloped Blooms Dies  for the cute little easel card I made in my video, which is this one:

Detailed Flora Dies, Stampin' Up!
Then I played around some more and came up with this card, which uses the circle a bit more, I really like the pattern round the circle, with the dot then 2 dashes (bit of morse code going on there 🤣)
Detailed Flora Dies, Stampin' Up!

Here is the video in case you missed it:

I hope this inspires you to create even if you don't have these specific dies you could do the same with some small flowers, leaves and circle dies 😉

Something Saturday - June Paper Pumpkin Bikes & Blooms

 Hi There Creators

Today is Paper Pumpkin day!  have you subscribed yet?  If you want to check out what's coming up next use this link: Paper Pumpkin. The sign up is now open for July, and goes through till 10th July.  I suggested in my last Free tutorial email, that if you feel it's too many cards for you, how about teaming up with a friend or 2, then you can share the cost, and have fun together!

This months kit arrived in my mail box last week, and I show off how to create the 3 "official" cards, then go "off piste", so at the end of the video I duck off make alternatives, and come back to show them off 😃

Here are the "official" ones:

paper pumpkin June 2026, Bikes & Blooms, Stampin' Up!

then here are my alternatives:, I've added some base white cards, and also some different co-ordinating  ink pad colours, but my aim was to keep it to "what's in the kit" as much as possible, and I still have a complete set of 3 cards to create, so these were purely created from 1 set of 3 cards.  I think I may add a bit more bling to them all, maybe some Rhinestone Basic Jewels or maybe a spot of Wink of Stella.

CreateAlong June - Velvet Meadow

 Hi there Creators,

Well today is my June CreateAlong Video's (I say Videos due to the fact that it's a lot easier to upload a 1/2 hour video than it is an hours version!) so I split it in 2.  If you ordered a kit I hope you enjoy creating along with me today (or whenever you get to it🤣)  Let me know what you make with your "extras".

If you didn't order a kit but would like the measurements, check out my "tutorials" section of this blog, and you can purchase the full written tutorials, with all the measurements and "how to cut" etc

These are the cards, and the box we create (and they feel so amazing due to the velvet texture)

CreateAlong, Velvet Meadow, Stampin' Up!

I hope you have enjoyed Creating Along with me today.  And don't forget to keep your eyes out for the next CreateAlong in September (they happen every other month currently), and make sure you're signed up for my emails so you get the details!

Something Saturday - Wild Bunch

 Hi there Creators

Wow the Product of the Month has arrived on my doorstep, and it's so stinkin' cute! Wild Bunch  If you want it I'd recommend ordering sooner rather than later, as they are only while stocks last.  You need to order $125 worth then pick it for $9 (Oh so worth it!)

Next week is my CreateAlong Video, if you've ordered a kit you can "CreateAlong" with me, if you haven't I hope you enjoy it anyway! 😃 (and don't forget to sign up for the next one in August!)

Anyway I decided I wanted to create one of those cards where they all look like they're sitting behind each other, which requires a bit of masking, then I decided to use Wink of stella to blend my watercolour pencils together (I always colour really roughly, knowing that I'll blend them with either the blender pens/water colour painters or wink of stella)

I've also used the Arches Dies for this card, as I felt like it needed something "framing" it.

Wild Bunch, Stampin' Up!,

Earlier in the day at Craft Alive I made up this card, the instructions for which will be coming out in my "Happy Sunday" email

Wild Bunch, Stampin' Up!,

Can't think of anything else to add currently,

Something Saturday - Scalloped Blooms Dies

Hi there Creators

Well today I thought I'd play around with the Scalloped Blooms Dies, I used to use this technique years ago when we had a heap of scallop circle punches, and it's really pretty, so, read on......

Oh and before I forget the Last Chance products list just got updated on 2nd, so check out the retiring (and discounted) goodies here: Last Chance List.

I've used: Scalloped Blooms Dies, Dreamy Flowers Embellishments, and the Natural Hues Cardstock in the card I show in the video, then the other card I created, a bit differently, but I still love the effect and I used the Pastels Shimmer Paper for that one.  The Natural Hues Card is kind of like "raw card" it has the feel of leaf matter and bits in it, I remember when I was backpacking round Thailand and Malaysia seeing paper being made with leaves, and petals in it and it reminds me a little of that. (it fascinated me back then 26 years ago - clearly I am a true "paper lover" 🤣)

Scalloped Blooms Dies, Dreamy Flowers, Stampin' Up!

Scalloped Blooms Dies, Dreamy Flowers, Stampin' Up!

You've probably worked out by now, but all I've done is put little cuts in between the scallops on the first card, then cut down each scallop on the second card, both produce really pretty results.  Have you tried this before?

If you missed the video here it is:

Hope you've enjoyed this, and it gives you inspiration as you craft.

Something Saturday - Fancy Fold Card

 Hi there Creators

Well, today I have this really cool fancy fold card to show you, courtesy of our Team Zoom the other night and my friend (and downline) Rose.  We crafted along with her to create our own versions of the card she showed us.

Just quickly before I do, if you're considering joining Stampin' Up! there is a deal on for 2 more days (till end of 31st May)  you pay $169 and get $235 of your choice of goodies, plus the 5 new In colours (worth $25 each pad)   OR you pay $169 and get $300 of your choice of goodies!!  either way it's a bargain, check it out here:  Join Stampin' Up!

Oh and I keep forgetting to mention that I'm going to be holding a Crafting Retreat in April 2027, check out the details here: Crafting Retreat April 2027

This was my version, using the gorgeous embossing folder: Floral Spray 3D Embossing Folder.

Fancy Fold Card, Stampin' Up!, Floral Spray 3D EF

As I prefer to use A4 when I make cards, I had a bit of a play around and changed it up, came up with this: using the fun Beach Boardwalk Designer Series paper

Fancy Fold Card, Stampin' Up!, Beach Boardwalk DSP

Fancy Fold Card, Stampin' Up!, Beach Boardwalk DSP

Then I moved onto making this one in the video, I used my favourite piece of DSP from Natures Walk Designer Series paper, then added the sayings on the white piece of Sunset Shimmer Vellum, and grabbed some of the sayings from A Family Celebration Stamp set, Oh and used some of the Sparkle Dot Essentials to cover over the glue dots that hold the vellum down (discovered the sparkle dots are on the retiring list and discounted - shame they are so pretty, but bonus if you like them and want to get some!)  Just a heads up the Retiring/Last Chance list is being updated on 2nd June, so worth having a look - I'm sure some things will be gone in a flash!

Natures Walk DSP, Stampin' Up!, A Family Celebration

Natures Walk DSP, Stampin' Up!, A Family Celebration

And now the bit you've all been waiting for: the measurements.......

You'll need:

  • A base card measuring 29cm x 10.5cm, scored at 8.5cm, 10.5cm, 15.6cm & 20.5cm
  • 12"x 10cm  Designer Paper strip cut in sequence: 8cm/ 1.5cm/ 9cm/ 8cm  cut the 9cm piece down to two lots of 4.5cm
  • Stick these all into the corresponding slots on your base card, make sure the 4.5cm strips are well stuck down all over, otherwise they will fall off when you do the next bit!
  • Next cut horizontal lines into the middle section that has the two 4.5cm pieces of DSP on it the lines need to be cut at 2.5cm, 4cm, 6.5cm and 8cm
  • fold it up and your base card is now complete, then you can decorate it
If this is as clear as mud, here's the video, which hopefully makes more sense!😃

I hope this inspires you to create
God Bless love

Something Saturday - Paper Pumpkin Alternatives July 2026

Hi There Creators Yep it's Paper Pumpkin time of the month!  This Months kit is called "Hooray for Birthdays" And this month I...
