Something Saturday - Cool Altered Gift

 Hi there Creators,

Not sure about you, but sometimes I find odd things in Charity shops that I think oooo I could do something with that, so of course it comes home with me, and goes in the craft room with an aim to do something with it, months later I remember about it.....

I found a couple of chunky wooden sayings, quite a while ago, and finally got round to doing something with them!

My something is to attach designer paper to them to make them look prettier (and not so white)  First up though we explored the "intricacies" of the Take your pick tool, I have to admit there is so much to love about this tool and there's a few extra options you might not know about:  Here are the links to check them out: Take your pick tool to begin with, then if you run out of putty (although you get 2 with the tool itself there is the Take your pick Putty refills.  But wait there's more.... there's the Take your Pick Die Brush Tip (with a special mat) and last but not least the Take your pick Crafter Tips, which gives you 2 special tips & blades.

Anyway on to the show & tell part, here's the one I show how to do in the video:  I have used the gorgeous Regal Winter Designer Series paper for this which happily has been reduced from $21.75 down to $19.57, having said that it's only while stocks last, so get yours now if you want it!

The other one I created the other day is this one, which the recipient now has! and uses the gorgeous Perennial Lavender Designer Series paper.

Something Saturday - Citrus Blooms

 Hi There Creators

Today I thought it would be fun to try out a technique I haven't done in ages - Paper Tole, using the new Citrus Blooms stamp set and dies.  Every so often I come across a stamp set that inspires me to do a spot of Paper Tole'ing, and this one has lots of dimension to it perfect for this technique.

To those of you who are saying "Paper Tole-what-ing?"  Paper Tole is a way of taking a picture and literally adding dimension by having several images of the same picture a and cutting out the various parts of it and laying them up, so the picture literally builds up and gives a 3D type image.

I thought it would make a beautiful framed piece (and a nice gift for a friend) - let me know what you think....

I did team it up with the fabulous sayings from Unbounded Love Stamp set (the dies that go with this stamp set are a must have!)

Then to create shiny bits I've added some of the fine tip glue pen which dries shiny clear๐Ÿ˜

I also said in the video I'd see what else I could make up with the set, so here we go..... (and of course I had to use some of the new In Colours)

How fabulous are these dies!?  I love that as it cuts out the outside piece you get the great dotted inner piece!

you can just about see the Wink Of Stella I used on the leaves in this close up (looks so much better in person!)

Something Saturday - Budget Make-it-yourself present

 Hi there Creators,

Hands up if you like a cheap, classy looking, hand-made Gift๐Ÿคฃ Oh I'm so glad you asked Heather (I can hear you saying, and would you look at that, Christmas is just round the corner - that's convenient! ๐Ÿ˜ƒ)

Ok, so I think this is a great little Christmas gift for anyone who has pens or pencils (well that's just about covered everyone!)  All you need is a tin - in my case the cats finally came through with something useful, Aldi Cat food tins (managed to wean them off the expensive Whiskars, shhh don't tell them, the cans are the same colour), some cardstock, and some Designer Paper.

Here goes...... here are the 2 pencil tins I made up, see measurements below

Oh and I promised in the video to show you my can opener, it's a Kleva range one, and it leaves a nice rounded edge to the can

Measurements are: (for Aldi Cat can)

Inside and outside plain colour (I recommend using a darker colour for the inside, so pencil/pen marks don't show up so quickly on it)  10.5cm x 24.5cm

Designer Series Paper for the outside 3 3/4" x  9" (I used Masterfully Made Designer Series Paper for the top tin and Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper for the blue bottom tin)

Then the circle for the bottom inside and base of tin I've used the Deckled Circle Dies the one that is 6th from the centre.

If you missed the video, here it is:

I hope this inspires you to dig out your cans and have go too!

God Bless love

Something Saturday - A Useful Gift

Hi There Creators,

Today I needed a new notebook for my sermon notes, so I thought what better than to show you how I decorate up notebooks as presies for others, (and myself)  I buy mine from Kmart, but I don't think it would matter where you buy them.

And on to the photos:

Stampin' Up!, Useful Gift, decorated notebook
My notebook started off without the extra elastic, and at the end of my video I added an extra section to show how I add the elastic to it to keep it closed when not in use. But basically you just punch two small holes in the backboard of your notebook (top & bottom) thread through the elastic and tie it tight enough that it will loop round the front and not be baggy.  I've also given my Designer Paper 2 mats one in Copper clay and the other as Pretty Peacock.  It really is a case of measure your notebook and decide on your own sizes!  the last thing I did was add a length of ribbon tied to the top of the spiral binding (make sure you only tie it to one piece of wire (not the double loop) as otherwise it will slip off!

I also heat embossed in gold this saying from Hope & Prayer stamp set, it doesn't show up really well (but as it's for me - I know it's there ๐Ÿ˜‰)

How pretty is this paper?  this is Earthen Elegance Designer Paper (very popular)

And that's it!  if you missed the video and would like to check it out here it is:

I hope this inspires you to dig out Designer Paper and decorate up a few noteboooks!
