Something Saturday - Brightest Birthday Kit

Image
Hi there Creators Today we're checking out one of the new kits, I have to say WOW!, maybe it's the holographic blingy bits (ooooo bling....🤣)  if you're a regular reader of my blog or watch my YouTube or Facebook channels then you'll know I can't resist bling.  Anyway check out the kit here: Brightest Birthday Kit And here are the cards it makes.... oh and their matching (also blingy) envelopes. Then you'll notice on the first card with the balloons it has a box that has the holographic outline, which is actually a sticker, so in the video I show you how to get the sticker off and onto a separate piece of card without having to pick it off and re-piece it yourself. And this is the card I made with it:  I probably should have used the same Azure Afternoon colour, but I had this piece of Shy Shamrock hanging around my desk, so chose to use that instead, and seeing as the star stamp hadn't been used I figured I should put it into action.  Its not a bad littl...

Something Saturday - Twisted Star Ornament

Image
Hi there Creators I saw this cool star ornament in another video, and had a bit of a play around with it, ending up with this.... (with a retired Designer Series Paper) Then I ended up making this one (somewhat puffier 🤣) in the video with the current Natures Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper  Ok, to make this you'll need 16 strips of 15cm x 1cm Designer Paper & glue (I used tombow) Use 8 of the pieces for each side of the star, you twist them like a Breast Cancer ribbon, but with a small "head section" and have a gap of around 4cm at the free end, and around 4cm of the 2 free arms (if that makes sense, it should if you've seen the video!) you then glue 8 of the "heads" together to make the middle of the star then the tails glue together to form the points. once you've made up 2 of these, you then glue them back to back, adding a piece of twine into the last point If you missed the video here it is:  I hope this inspires you to create one t...

Rosette Tree Christmas in June Craft Alive Bendigo

Image
Hi there Creators, I have done a Facebook video on this cute Rosette Christmas Tree and promised to share the measurements in a blog post, so here we are.... first up the tree!  I will aim to add the video to my YouTube channel too! It's a really sturdy little tree when you put it together with hot glue. You will need ideally 12 x 12" Designer Series Paper, the first one I made uses the beautiful Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper, and the second one I've used the Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series Paper the suites that go with both of these are just gorgeous! You'll need to cut each of the following: 12" x 1/2" 12" x 3/4" 12" x 1" 18" x 1 1/4" 18" x 1 1/2" 24" x 1 3/4" 24" x 2" I recommend for the last 2 that are 24" you cut double the width of the 12x12 card stock, then score it and then cut it in 1/2 (just saves an extra step).  Each piece you need to score and concer...

Tidings of Christmas (battery operated) Tea Light

Image
Hi there Creators,  Welcome if you're viewing my blog for the 1st time, or the 100th! Craft Alive Bendigo was meant to happen Thursday 10th June through to Sunday 13th, however COVID has once again got in the way, so we're having a "Pop-Up Online Event" instead, just a case of those of us who would have been exhibitors, adding a little extra to our online presence.  I am hoping to have a Facebook live each day (Thurs/Fri/Sat)  Saturday will be my usual Something Saturday at 10am Anyway on to, what am I showing you in this blog post?  I was planning on doing a Christmas in June/July theme, and my choice of products for this is the lovely Tidings of Christmas Suite (do click on it to check it out)  This Suite has beautiful papers, ribbon, stamps and dies!  And I thought the stars would make beautiful tealight holders, what do you think? I decided to do a photograph instruction thingo for you, so here goes.... You will need: A standard card (I use the T...

Christmas Decoration

Image
Hi there Creators, I taught this decoration a couple of years ago, and one of my team asked me about it yesterday.  I though I'd done a video on it, but turns out I hadn't, so excellent opportunity to do a YouTube vid! Here is the decoration: It's so pretty and yet deceptively simple to make, I've used the 'Tis the Season Designer Series Paper , (DSP) which is currently 15% off this month (yay!) I picked out 6 different designs, and have alternated 2 in each layer.  To make the wreath itself you'll need  4 circles, I used the Layering Circles dies , 3 different sizes and you'll need 2 of the largest one 12 pieces of 3" square DSP (2 designs so, 6 of each) 12 pieces of 2.5" square DSP (2 designs so, 6 of each) 12 pieces of 2" square DSP (2 designs so, 6 of each) glue!  I recommend Tombow Adhesive (multipurpose liquid glue) You'll also want something to decorate the front of it with I used For Unto Us stamp set , and some matching ribbon,...
