Something Saturday - Light the Candles Kit

 Hi there Creators,

Today I thought I'd show off another new Kit I received although the kit isn't new, I have only just got round to buying it😁  Gee Stampin' Up! make some beautiful kits!  This one Light the Candles is one that contains ink and a stamp set too, so you can really go to town and make extra cards with a little bit of extra cardstock.

Here are the cards the kit actually makes: the candles are lovely and glittery (I don't think it shows up well in the photos)

This kit only makes up 2 different cards, but you get 4 of each so 8 cards in total, and as the purchase price for the kit is $33 it would make the cards $4.13 each, but wait.....

You can split up the candles from the top card..... and because both base cards have the pattern on the front and back you can split them up too, add your own base cards and voila!

the only things I added that weren't from the kit were the base cards (thick basic white cardstock used), and the bling, I've used some of the gorgeous In Colour Opal Rounds, which are kind of similar to the bling in the kit, only prettier colours.  As I explain right at the end of the video, I've cut down the front of the green patterned and orange patterned card and turned it over to get the little white strips for the saying and strip across the card.

Something Saturday - New Saying Thanks Kit

 Hi there Creators

Today we're checking out this new kit that's been released, Oh my gosh it's gorgeous, and I created an extra card using some of the left overs.  And I worked out that the kit is $23 for 9 cards, so each card is only $2.56!!!  and that's not including the left overs and the box itself, what a bargain.

Here are the cards I made: The top 3 are directly as the kit tells us to do them, then I get creative with the left overs 😍

there are a heap of little white hearts that get punched out of the 2nd card, so these, I've stacked and glued together to get little 3D hearts, then covered them with versamark and gold heat embossing powder and (carefully) heated them, to melt the embossing powder, I was thinking they'd look really cute on a present, especially with the white twine loops, but chances are by the time I'm wrapping up a presy I'll forget I've got them, so figured they'd better go on a card!

I loved the colours in the other cards, so thought I'd stick to similar ones, and I've used all the 2022-2024 In colour reinkers to create this watercoloured background. Re-inker links are:  Parakeet Party, Sweet Sorbet, Starry Night, Orchid Oasis, and Tahitian Tide.  To create this effect, I've damped down watercolour paper then inked up my watercolour brush, and dotted the ink around, it then spreads and once it dry's you can use it (so pretty).

Something Saturday - Mini Ink Pads & Alphabet dies

 Hi there Creators,

Today I showed off a quick way to create 2 cards from one cut, nice and simple, but with a great look to them.

Here are the cards: 

The cool thing with this is you can gear it to the colours the person really likes.

The idea is to have a piece of card that will give a nice gap all the way round once it's on your card, mine measures 9.5cm x 13.8cm (bearing in mind my base card is 10.5cm x 14.8cm).  You cut out the Happy (or other word) I've used the Alphabet a la Mode dies, leaving enough room to stamp a sentiment in too, (I've used Biggest Wish Stamp set) use the cut out letters in the other card, and add colour to your base card so it peeps through.

I've taken my mini ink pads and swiped them on their ends to get this scribbled effect, I guess you could use pencils or pens, but this was so quick and easy!  Mini ink pads - or Stampin' Spots as they're actually called are such fabulous pads to have, I've inked one up for each colour we have, all you need is the Re-inker and the Stampin' spots and you can have any colour you like

I wanted the cut out word, to really pop, which is why I left it white and brushed colour intensively round the edges of the card

In the video with this second card I wasn't sure how well the birthday would show up using the gorgeous Grape colour, so I ended up popping the card in my Stamparatus just in case I needed a darker colour, so much easier to line it back up again!

Something Saturday - Pop Out New Years Box

 

 Hi there Creators, 

In today's video I showed off how to create a large matchbox with a Pop Up element inside, so when the person opens the box it pops up.  It took me a little while to work this out and I've been thinking about it for ages since a friend showed me something sent to her kids for their birthdays, which had a pop up element inside a box, but theirs also shot out confetti bits into the air (haven't got that part worked out lol)

It's a little difficult to show in photos, but here goes......

So that was the first one I made I've used the 2022-2024 In Color Designer Paper, Parakeet Party is just such lovely fresh colour!  I've also used the beautiful Delicate Edges dies, this one is my fav.   Check out all the components I've used here:  What Heather Used

Then in the video I make up this one:

 

I've used some of the new goodies from the Mini:  Fancy Flora Designer Paper, and the Alphabet A La Mode Dies (oh my goodness the designer paper is sooooo pretty)  Check out all the "ingredients" I used for this one here: What Heather Used

And just one more example before the measurements (as the measurements are taken from this (slightly more perfected) one:

Annnnd finally, the measurements, first a photo with all the components you'll need:

and now:

A: 20cm x 10.5cm scored at 4,5,13 and 14cm

B: 10.5cm x 9.5cm scored at 0.9cm in each side

C: 9cm x 2.5cm scored at 4.5cm

D: (Designer Paper) 4" x 3" (it's easier in inches for the Designer paper as it's 6x6' paper)

E: (Designer Paper) 4" x 2"

Plus you need 

• a die cut/cut rectangle or punched piece to fit in the box (it's ok to be just shorter than the width of the box, but you definitely want it shorter than the length of the box so it pops out before you get to the end of pulling out the box, if that makes sense!)  I 've used Something Fancy Dies
• A words stamp set, I've used Something Fancy Stamps (which conveniently comes as a bundle called "Something fancy Bundle"
• you need a small punch I've used Best Label (you'll need 2 of these)
• Also you need to raid your hubbies shed, or the local hardware store and find a wire coil spring, I discovered 3 (in Tom's shed) that were around 1cm diameter and 2cm high (fairly flexible and easy to squish, not hard)  So I've taken those (and already used them 🤣 no backing out now!)

So then the basic instructions are:

•  make up the box base (B)
• wrap A round the base to create the matchbox
• do your stamping and cut out with dies/ punch whatever you're using
  
• Attach D to the top of your box
• Attach E to create the slide out puller bit (it goes under the box base) there is a reason it's so long, as a shorter one will catch when you push it back in.
  
• Attach C to the back of your "in the box" saying making sure the fold is at the bottom
• hook your small punched pieces into either side of the metal spring, and using enough glue attach inside C.
• 
  then attach this inside the box, make sure glue has set before trying it out.

Cards for February 2023 Classes

Hi there Creators,

Now we have the new Mini and Sale-a-Bration Catalogues out, of course I've been inspired to use new stuff....lol

Classes are Wed 1st, at 10.30am and Thursday 2nd at 7pm in Laanecoorie then Saturday 4th 10.30am in Maryborough.  Class Cost $20 for the 4 cards. Don't forget to book your place.

I will admit I had a struggle to know what to use (there's just so much and so little time!)

Anyway, the Owls called to me (hoo? 🤣)  How cute is this little guy?  you can get the Adorable Owls stamp set for free when you purchase $90 of goodies (in fact that's the only way to get it, as it's one of the Sale-a-Bration offerings)  I've teamed it up with the Heart punch pack, and the Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers), and discovered that my Rustic Metallic bling slipped (oops)

The next card I made is this one (which I think is really lovely in "real life" just hard to photograph well)  This also uses a Sale-a-Bration set: Beautifully Happy, and I will admit we're not using it to the full extent of it's abilities, but I really love the contrast you get of watercolour pencils on black cardstock.  to get this set as it's quite extensive, you'll need to purchase $180 of goodies, then pick it for free.  I've also used some of the gorgeous Dry Burshed Metallic Cardstock oooo shiny....

Card #3 is this one using the beautiful Fancy Flora Designer Paper, I've teamed it up with the Two Tone Flora stamp set and the Something Fancy stamp set for the saying (which conveniently fits onto the larger Dragonfly punch😉) and added a few of the Iridescent Pastel Gems (umm bling..)

And on to the last card using the By the Bay designer paper - Oh wow (have I ever mentioned I love Gold?🤣)  I think this might be my favourite card, I've teamed up the designer paper with the Brushed Metallic Cardstock, the Balmy Blue & White Variegated Ribbon, and stamps from Charming Sentiments.

Something Saturday - What can you do with your Ink pads?

Hi there Creators

After using the small ink spots to create the triangular effect on this card from last week:

It got me thinking what else could I do with just my ink pads or spots, so, me being me, I played around and came up with these ideas (I'm sure there are many more.....)

My first card uses the big (main) inkpads to dip the edge onto the cardstock then keep turning till you get the star burst effect, I kind of felt like it was celebratory, hence the "so proud of you" saying from Celebrating You stamp set.

then I moved onto the mini ink pads (Ink Spots) which you can buy as a pre-inked pack of basic colours: Classic Stampin' Spots Assortment, or you can buy Un-inked stampin' spots which come as a pack of 5, and ink them yourself so you have a variety of colours (which is what I've done), it's a great way to get a heap of colours, plus if/when you do buy the main ink pad colours you'll then have the re-inkers already for them too (win win!)

Anyway this is my attempt with the small ink pads, I kind of felt like they were like fireworks with the small star-bursts hence the "happy new year" saying!

After that I played around with swiping my mini ink pads, and as I love rainbows (Thankyou God for creating rainbows 😊)  I thought I would be lovely to swipe a rainbow!

This is the first one I made in the video, and I wanted the word to match the rainbow, so I've used the mini ink pads to do that too, then I have taken some of the Rhinestone basic Jewels and coloured them using Stampin Blends (alcohol markers) so the colour stays on them

 Then this is the second attempt in the video, which I decided would look great as a rainbow waterfall

ironically I realised after I'd put the card together that the rainbow words go in the other direction (ah well never said I was perfect 🤣)

 

and the last card I made up using the swipe'ing again (you can also swipe in wavy lines)

Something Saturday - A spot of Watercolouring

 Hi there Creators

Today I thought I'd have a go at watercolouring and see if I can inspire you to have a go too.....

My theory was that I was trying for "No-line" watercolouring which I've seen done, however it wasn't until after I'd finished the video that I remembered you're meant to stamp off the inked up image once on scrap paper before you stamp it, so that it's a really faded image (oopsie!)  But, as it's not something I do very often (watercolouring) I'm kind of treating it like a "paint by numbers", where I've picked my own colours 🤣  I do love the Water painter brushes they are so easy to use and very handy having their own reservoir of water (I used to let my kids use these when they fancied doing watercolouring, much less mess!)

Having said that I'm quite happy with the way the images turned out, but you're not here to hear me waffle on, so lets move onto the photos.....

The first 2 are done using Stampin' Up!'s Shimmery White cardstock which is actually designed to take a fair bit of water! I have to admit I would never normally pick out a stamp set like this to use: In the Country Sale-a-Bration set (you can opt to have it for FREE with a $90+ order from 5th Jan till 28th Feb), Having seen someone else's rendition of it, it whet my appetite.   My favourite image is this first one with the staircase, If you watched the video and hung around right till the very end you'll already know how I created the criss cross effect using mini ink pads at the top and bottom of the card (it's kind of an "added extra" at the end of the video.)

This image just felt "relax'ish" hence pairing it up with this saying from In the Moment.  I will admit I actually cut my stamp some time ago, so I could use Relax on it's own or with the rest of the words (I'm still glad I did!😁)

These other 2 cards use Stampin' Up!'s Watercolor Paper (which is obviously designed for watercoloring!)

After remembering that you're meant to stamp off once I then moved on to make this card, which is definitely more "no lines"ish, I've used In the Moment for the main main girl image, then True Beauty for the flowers and saying, which I thought blended nicely with the soft effect.
