Rosette Tree Christmas in June Craft Alive Bendigo

 Hi there Creators,

I have done a Facebook video on this cute Rosette Christmas Tree and promised to share the measurements in a blog post, so here we are.... first up the tree!  I will aim to add the video to my YouTube channel too!

It's a really sturdy little tree when you put it together with hot glue.

You will need ideally 12 x 12" Designer Series Paper, the first one I made uses the beautiful Expressions in Ink Specialty Designer Series Paper, and the second one I've used the Simply Elegant Specialty Designer Series Paper the suites that go with both of these are just gorgeous!

You'll need to cut each of the following:

  • 12" x 1/2"
  • 12" x 3/4"
  • 12" x 1"
  • 18" x 1 1/4"
  • 18" x 1 1/2"
  • 24" x 1 3/4"
  • 24" x 2"

I recommend for the last 2 that are 24" you cut double the width of the 12x12 card stock, then score it and then cut it in 1/2 (just saves an extra step).  Each piece you need to score and concertina at 1/2" intervals I thoroughly recommend using the Simply Scored Board (makes the job really easy)

Now you need to glue each piece in a circle like this:

Press each one down to form a rosette (I recommend having the silicone craft sheet under your work at this point!), as you now need to use hot glue to hold the middle of the rosette together.

Do this with all the rosettes: (there is 1 missing from this photo, should be 7 in total)

I then cut some circles and glued these on the top of all, but the top 3 rosettes, (it gives a bit more stability to the tree)  Then glue them all together to form the tree, and add something nice on the top, I used The lovely Gold Fine Art Ribbon on this one:

#craftalivebendigo, Stampin up, Expressions of Ink

then the incredibly soft Metallic Mesh ribbon on this one:

Tidings of Christmas (battery operated) Tea Light

 Hi there Creators,

Welcome if you're viewing my blog for the 1st time, or the 100th!

Craft Alive Bendigo was meant to happen Thursday 10th June through to Sunday 13th, however COVID has once again got in the way, so we're having a "Pop-Up Online Event" instead, just a case of those of us who would have been exhibitors, adding a little extra to our online presence.  I am hoping to have a Facebook live each day (Thurs/Fri/Sat)  Saturday will be my usual Something Saturday at 10am

Anyway on to, what am I showing you in this blog post?  I was planning on doing a Christmas in June/July theme, and my choice of products for this is the lovely Tidings of Christmas Suite (do click on it to check it out)  This Suite has beautiful papers, ribbon, stamps and dies!  And I thought the stars would make beautiful tealight holders, what do you think?

I decided to do a photograph instruction thingo for you, so here goes....

You will need:

First up arrange your large star die on the card, make sure it's right on the edge, and the pointy top is right at the top end (top is the open end of the card, not the folded end!)  You need to make sure that when you cut it, it leaves the 2 bottom points of the star still attached to the card, hence the top plate only covers as shown in the photo, then run it through your Stampin' Cut & Emboss machine

Tidings of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Christmas 3D project
If you have put it as far to the edge as you can you'll be able to make 2 of them from one standard card, as shown:

Tidings of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Christmas 3D project

Next cut the stars out by a straight cut up from the bottom on both sides, leave the middle intact,

Next you want to create a score line about 1cm below the star and fold it. I thought I'd taken photos of this but they've disappeared!

Next part is to cut out the detailed star (got a photo of this part, which hopefully catches you up to speed with the last 2!) in this photo the silver bit is the die in place.

Tidings of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Christmas 3D project

Once you have cut out the intricate star you'll have the outline left, as this next photo shows you'll need window sheeting, cut with the plain star (the 2 dies are at the top) you can see a slight fold in the cut piece under the star, if you score and fold this part it makes it easier to trim off.

Tidings of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Christmas 3D project

Once you have the 2 window sheeting stars open up your piece, which will have a star on both ends, you can, attach these to the inside as shown;

Tidings of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Christmas 3D project

turn it over and attach the intricate stars, I've coloured mine in first with the Mango Melody Stampin' Write Marker, and added one of the In colour Jewels to the top on each side (want to know how to get a pack of these for free? I'll tell you after the instructions)

Tidings of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Christmas 3D project

Next up attach the top star tips together, I used a glue dot

Tidings of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Christmas 3D project

And Voila, stand it up and pop a (battery operated) tea light candle in it.

Tidings of Christmas, Stampin' Up!, Christmas 3D project
then it will fold flat when not in use.

Party Puffins, Cards for June class

 Hi there Creators,

I thought for a change this month we'd do some kids cards, Sam (10)  has been to a couple of parties recently, and I've really enjoyed using this stamp set making up cards for them.  The Party Puffins are so cute! (I'm pretty sure they'd appeal to big kids too lol)

So here we go.....

Card 1:  I like doing fancy fold cards and they're always a winner with kids!

Party Puffins, Fancy Fold Card, Stampin' Up!, Being CreateAble with Heather
Card 2:  Sparkly stuff!, also a winner with kids lol, I've used some of the Rainbow Glimmer Paper with this card, so pretty!, and as it's rainbow there's also a greeny/blue section which would work nicely for a boy! (and these sparkles don't get everywhere, bonus!)

Party Puffins, Stampin' Up!, Being CreateAble with Heather

Card #3 also uses a bit more of the sparkly Rainbow Glimmer Paper behind the vellum heart (some of the green this time!)  A spot of masking and you have a heap of small cute puffins!

Party Puffins, Stampin' Up!, Being CreateAble with Heather

And the last card I thought would be fun to showcase the candles, if you coloured the candles in pinks I reckon it would make a nice girls card too, I've used some of the new In colour Jewels on this one, Oh they're so sparkly and sadly the photo doesn't do them justice!

Party Puffins, Stampin' Up!, Being CreateAble with Heather

I have added sparkles to each of the candles too with a bit of Wink of Stella, gives such a beautiful subtle effect!

Hydrangea Hill Cards for May

 Hi there Creators

the Hydrangea Hill Designer Series Paper is so beautiful that I thought I'd make it a feature of the cards for our May class, plus I've added in a couple of new items......😊(which will be available from 4th May, yay!)

This first card uses some of the new Pale Papaya open weave ribbon (very pretty) and it's funny as when I first saw this colour I really didn't think much of it, but it's not as wishy washy as I thought it looked, it actually has a nice peachy tone to it.  Oh and the saying is from a new set too called "Elegantly Said"

Hydrangea Hill DSP, Stampin' Up!
The second card is this one, again new goodies, I've used some of the Pale Papaya card behind the saying, then there's also new stamp set and punch: Flowers of Friendship Stamps and matching Flowers & Leaves Punch (I like punches!)  and lastly there's the new Linen Specialty Paper, this was an interesting one, I didn't realise it's sticky backed, I rather like the way it allows the pattern of the paper to show through the linen, and I love the light texture it gives.  We're also saying a sad goodbye to Rococo Rose as it' retires on 3rd May making way for the new In Colours.  I've used it for my base card colour.
Hydrangea Hill DSP, Stampin' Up!

The last (and trickiest) card is this one, it looks deceptively simple from the outside (partly cos it is very simple on the outside),

Hydrangea Hill DSP, Stampin' Up!

but when you open it up there's this.......
Hydrangea Hill DSP, Stampin' Up!
Wow, I know right?

Anyway down to the nitty gritty, the class is either in person or by mail (you'll get a video of how to do the pop out bit if you choose by mail, as well as the usual instructions) Class cost $20 ($22.20 by mail to cover postage).

If you choose "by mail" you'll need to stamp your own sayings and find some other flowers to use on card #2, but everything else will be ready for you.

Dates for class here in my classroom are Tuesday 11th 10.30am, Wednesday 12th 10.30am or Thursday 13th 7pm.  If you can't make one of those times/days and would rather do the class in person, then let me know and we'll work something out😊

Make sure you book your spot as classes can book up kind of fast!

If you're not up to joining in, I hope this inspires you to create at home!

God Bless love

3D tutorial, Coffee Cup

 Hi there Creators,

I did a Facebook Live on Saturday (Easter Saturday) where I showed how to make this Coffee Cup, it's quite easy but can look really great with a couple of choccie eggs in it (or other things!)  so I thought I'd share it here with you too:

Fancy Fold - Corner Fold with Easel Card

 Hi there Creators,

well a week or so ago I posted this video for my Something Saturday Facebook live, and I'm a bit late in putting it up here!

Here are the cards I've made using this fancy fold that I saw at the Picture to Page show recently.

This is the first one I made up with the new Butterfly Bijou Designer Series Paper, which is sadly sold out at the moment! (very popular)

Currently the card I made in the video has gone walkies, however I did make this card up using the same World of Good Designer Series Papers that the one in the video is made with.  I love the brass foil designs that are on some of the sheets.

Rough instructions are that you start off with a square piece of card, score it in 1/2 both ways (so it has 4 small squares), cut one of the score lines up to the centre point.  If you have that cut line down the bottom, you then fold the top 2 squares diagonally backwards, and that's pretty much all the folding!

Do watch the video below for more in depth description

If you live in Australia don't forget you can order my April Card kit which has one of these in it to create, see my previous post for more details.

I hope these inspire you to create, let me know if you have a go!

God Bless love

In Bloom Bundle/ UFO's

 Hi there Creators,

Today I've been trying (unsuccessfully) to clean up my desk, it's one of those jobs that you get started on then find things you haven't finished off....

So instead of cleaning I ended up finishing off a couple of things, hence the UFOs Unfinished Objects, as it turns out I end up using the In Bloom Bundle for both of them.

The first one was this card, which I'd previously stamped but hadn't got any further, so I added the ribbon and the gorgeous Artistry Blooms sequins and finished it off:

In Bloom Bundle, Stampin' Up!

The other project is a 3D one, for which I had the "bones" made up, specifically the outside box bit, but I had plans for the inside which hadn't happened, so finally I chose the colours and what I was going to decorate it with, and here's the finished article......

In Bloom bundle, Stampin' Up!

I admit I did do the inside first, however you get to see the outside first lol, it's a bit purple as I was thinking about a couple of friends who love purple (plus I currently have almost a full pack of Gorgeous Grape and 1/2 a pack of Highland Heather cardstock)  I love the stitched look with these Pierced Blooms dies, so as I'd stamped the side panels I thought I'd add a white stitched look to them too, just using the White Stampin' Chalk Marker

The inside is the bit that Tom (hubby) and the kids all said "Cool" to 😀

In Bloom bundle, Stampin' Up!

I was so chuffed with the way it turned out!  I've used some of the small flower dies on the top, and another flower to create the green leaves under it. With some of the beautiful Pastel Pearls.

Got a couple more photos of it too: bit more of an outside of the box shot, to show the stamping in more detail:

In Bloom bundle, Stampin' Up!

And a quick shot showing how the lid fits on:

In Bloom bundle, Stampin' Up!

Well What to do you think?  Do you want to have a go? it's not actually as hard as it looks lol

I hope it inspires you to have a go at something different!

God Bless love Heather xox

Something Saturday - 2 from 1 Stripes & Trees

Hi there Creators Today I'm doing one cut with my Designer Paper and creating 2 different cards - gotta love it when you can get 2 for...
