Something Saturday - Louvre Windows Card

Image
Hi there Creators Today I thought I'd show you how to create this Louvre Windows card (little bit of trivia, did you know Louvres were invented back in the middle ages around 1500 years ago?, they were made of wood and put on pitched roofs to let out smoke, and increase circulation)😃 Anyway moving on.... I saw these kind of cards at the Picture to Page show, and of course the company selling them had dies to cut out all the components, but I figured I could make it work my own way. And so Voila: I made this card up before the video using the Celebratory Sips Designer paper (see all the links below) and here it is opened up (little difficult to photograph!) So this is the bit that's obscured above! Then in the video this is the card I made up, this time using the Beautiful Gallery Designer Paper (again links below) and the middle..... as you can see I used a bit more of the designer paper to cut out and add to the middle sections and again the obscured bit Links for products R...

Something Saturday - Diamond pop out Card

 Hi There Creators

today I'm showing you how to make a diamond pop out card (as per usual I'm not really sure if it has a proper name so that's what I'm calling it!)

At the Craft Alive Bendigo show, Bev Anderson the Close to My Heart consultant was teaching this card, and she kindly gave me a kit to try out, I thought it was really cool, so figured sharing is caring!

Here's the one she gave me to make:

Then In the video I make this one up using the beautiful Fresh as a Daisy Designer paper, with Garden Green as a mat underneath.

In the video I say that I'll be putting the measurements up on here, so here goes....

Take your A5 base piece of card, fold in 1/2 at 10.5cm, then fold the front in 1/2 again at 5.25cm (or just fold manually and use your bone scorer to flatten it) this will give you 3 sections, the front 2 are the same size.

On the back:

  • Green layer: 3 3/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Designer Paper:  3 1/2" x 5 1/4"

The front 2 flaps (so you'll need to cut double)

  • Green layer: 1 3/4" x 5 1/2"
  • Designer Paper: 1 1/2" x 5 1/4"

front 2 squares (for the front diamonds)

  • Green layer: 2"
  • Designer Paper: 1 3/4"

Diamond layer inside:

  • Green layer: 2 1/2"  (you'll need to cut 2 of each of these)
  • White layer for inside: 2 1/4" (you'll need to cut 2 of each of these)
  • Designer Paper:  2 1/4"

And lastly the "mechanical Device" bit

  • Green: 2" x 3 1/4" scored at 1/4", 1", 1 3/4", and 2 1/2"

Layer the pieces together, then attach the back pieces and 2 front flap pieces to your card base.

Add the 2 smaller diamonds to the front flap

Create the mechanical device by folding up into a square tube,  and attaching together.

Pop this into the middle of your card for the middle larger diamond to sit on (you might want to watch the video on how I do this) then attach the larger folded up diamond (again watch the video for this step)

Here is the video in case you missed it:

Hope this inspires you to have a go too

God Bless love
