Something Saturday - Origami Envelopes

 Hi There Creators, Guess what? it's that time of the week again for Something Saturday!😃 This week I happened to be scrolling through Facebook and came across this origami envelope quick video, so I have deciphered the video (you know how they do it and it's so fast!) And I've worked out if you do it with 12x12" cardstock you get an envelope worthy of a card, and a 6x6" piece gives you a gift card sized envelope. Here they are: then I'll try and explain how to make them...... Something Saturday - Strip Christmas Trees

Umm might not have picked the right name for this one 🤣  What I actually mean is Christmas trees made from strips of Designer Papers.  Phew we're not going to make our Christmas trees strip!

I had a few strips of the Boughs of Holly Designer Papers that were (in theory) 1cm strips, so I thought I'd have a go at something I used to do with washi tape.

The idea is to have strips of paper that are slightly shorter each time so when you attach them down you end up with the typical pyramid tree shape.

Here's the card I made up in the video.  I teamed it up with the Decorated with Happiness bundle (stamps & dies) Oh and the Adhesive-Backed Seasonal sequins  I do like sequins without holes in the middle for adding to cards!

Then after the video I made up this card, as I still had some scraps left over.  This time I also stamped the branches from the stamp set in the background, which I rather like, I'm looking forward to doing more with this set (it only arrived a couple of days before I did the video!)  I tried to stamp the saying directly onto the card with Stazon Black, but it really didn't show up, so ended up covering it with vellum, and punching the ends with the Handmade Tag Punch.  As I mentioned in the video I often do these cards so that the tree is a little skewiff or wonky, I kind of like the effect it gives.

 Hi there Creators I saw this cool star ornament in another video, and had a bit of a play around with it, ending up with this.... (with a retired Designer Series Paper) Then I ended up making this one (somewhat puffier 🤣) in the video with the current Natures Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper  Ok, to make this you'll need 16 strips of 15cm x 1cm Designer Paper & glue (I used tombow) Use 8 of the pieces for each side of the star, you twist them like a Breast Cancer ribbon, but with a small "head section" and have a gap of around 4cm at the free end, and around 4cm of the 2 free arms (if that makes sense, it should if you've seen the video!) you then glue 8 of the "heads" together to make the middle of the star then the tails glue together to form the points. once you've made up 2 of these, you then glue them back to back, adding a piece of twine into the last point If you missed the video here it is:  I hope this inspires you to create one t...

 Hi there Creators, The Global Design Project #261 challenge this week is a colour challenge: (check out the link to see what others have done)   So I thought I'd join in again, and try out a card type I've seen someone else show off recently  I know it would have been on one of the Stampin' Up! facebook pages, I can't remember exactly what she used, but I liked the 3D'ness of it 😄 and I have no idea what the card is called possibly Diorama card would work?  anyway I set to work trying to work out how she'd done it (although I suspect if I could re-find hers she'd probably already done instructions lol)  I always seem to take the hard way..... So here is my "take" on it using these colours.  The inside is the impressive bit..... The outside not so impressive, but check out that gorgeous Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper !  I've teamed it up with the Ornate Layers Dies , and the super soft ribbon from the Basket Weave & Metall...

Classes for March

 Hi there Creators, Oh my goodness we're at the 1st March, where did the last 2 months go?!  Thought I'd better hop on and let you know what we'll be making for our cards in March. Classes are Friday 7th at 1pm my classroom in Laanecoorie, and 10.30am in Maryborough, the Wattle City Church 19 Argyle Road.
