Something Saturday - Brightest Birthday Kit

  Hi there Creators Today we're checking out one of the new kits, I have to say WOW!, maybe it's the holographic blingy bits (ooooo bling....🤣)  if you're a regular reader of my blog or watch my YouTube or Facebook channels then you'll know I can't resist bling.  Anyway check out the kit here: Brightest Birthday Kit And here are the cards it makes.... oh and their matching (also blingy) envelopes. Then you'll notice on the first card with the balloons it has a box that has the holographic outline, which is actually a sticker, so in the video I show you how to get the sticker off and onto a separate piece of card without having to pick it off and re-piece it yourself. And this is the card I made with it:  I probably should have used the same Azure Afternoon colour, but I had this piece of Shy Shamrock hanging around my desk, so chose to use that instead, and seeing as the star stamp hadn't been used I figured I should put it into action.  Its not a bad littl...

Creating a Card with a window opening

 Hi there Creators,

In my Something Saturday video today I'm showing how to create a card that has a window type opening in it, if you plan to create your own advent calendars this would be one easy way to do it with the right dies 😀

So here are the cards I made using the Bright Baubles Bundle:

Firstly the lines on the outer card are simply made by dropping the ink pad repeatedly onto the card! (make sure you have scrap paper under your work, or everything will get coloured! lol) Also quite a good way to hide mistakes 🤣

Next up you create the opening - to do this you'll need to only partially cut the die, leaving a small amount uncut where you want the "hinge" to be (see the photo below)

After that it's just a case of decorating, you can have it as an opening to the inside of your card, or in my case I added extra under it.  

I added a piece of coloured card covering the back of the front of the card (how confusing is that?!), in other words I added a piece of card 14.5cm x 10cm behind the hole, then added a die cut directly onto this through the hole, so when the door opens you see the die cut.  Oooo Just thought it would look pretty cool with window sheeting instead of the coloured card!  Umm another time as it's now tipping down outside and that's not so appealing getting out to my craft room!

Class cards for May

Hi there Creators, I have worked out our class cards for May now woo hoo!   Class dates are:  Tuesday 7th at 1.30pm in Laanecoorie, Thursday 9th at 7pm in Laanecoorie, and Saturday 11th at 10.30am in Maryborough.  Class cost is $24 for 4 cards with envelopes.  It's important to book your place if you're coming to Laanecoorie as space is limited. Here are the cards we'll be creating: Using the beautiful Unbounded Love Bundle and Layers of Beauty (I've only used the stamp set here, but Oh My Goodness the bundle is so worth it!), also showcasing some of the new colours: Shy Shamrock and Peach Pie (guess which is which 🤣) Then back in time a little as this was in the mini catalogue (if you want it, buy it now before the end of the month while it's still a bundle price with 10% off it!)  Ice Cream Swirl Bundle (stamps & dies)  again showcasing one of the "new" colours, although Pretty in Pink is actually an old colour with a come-back! Something Saturday - Twisted Star Ornament

 Hi there Creators I saw this cool star ornament in another video, and had a bit of a play around with it, ending up with this.... (with a retired Designer Series Paper) Then I ended up making this one (somewhat puffier 🤣) in the video with the current Natures Sweetness Specialty Designer Series Paper  Ok, to make this you'll need 16 strips of 15cm x 1cm Designer Paper & glue (I used tombow) Use 8 of the pieces for each side of the star, you twist them like a Breast Cancer ribbon, but with a small "head section" and have a gap of around 4cm at the free end, and around 4cm of the 2 free arms (if that makes sense, it should if you've seen the video!) you then glue 8 of the "heads" together to make the middle of the star then the tails glue together to form the points. once you've made up 2 of these, you then glue them back to back, adding a piece of twine into the last point If you missed the video here it is:  I hope this inspires you to create one t...
