Something Saturday - Thoughtful Moments Hybrid

 Hi There Creators

Hope you've all had a lovely Christmas!  Happy New Year to you too.

Today I thought we'd check out something that will be available to purchase on 4th January - 5 Days time EEK!  hopefully you all have your catalogues by now, if not let me know!

What we're checking out today is the Thoughtful Moments Hybrid which is an embossing folder with dies, and it is SOOOO cool!, you can cut and emboss all at the same time.  There are 10 sayings/words, and I've been so enjoying playing with them.

Here are the cards I made up after the video, I decided with these that less is more, so they make amazingly simple, but effective cards I think!  I've added a bit of Wink of Stella to some pieces just to add a bit of bling๐Ÿ˜

My last card was inspired by some lined cards that a friend of mine gave me for Christmas, they were hand-painted by her daughter and she gave me a jar with it to write down what I'm thankful for, and pop them in the jar.  Here are some of the ones Amy painted:

And here is the card that was inspired by them:

I hope this inspires you to create, and don't forget to check out all the new goodies on 4th January!

Something Saturday - Pop out Concertina Christmas Tree Card

 Hi There Creators

Today I'm showing you how to create a card that has a pop-out element in the middle which just happens to be a Christmas tree (surprise, surprise as it's almost Christmas!) I've used the fabulous Merry Bold & Bright Designer Series Paper, which sadly is on the retiring list ๐Ÿ˜”

Here is the middle of the first card I created before the video:

and the outside of the card.....

pop out concertina Christmas tree card, Stampin' Up!
I wasn't 100% happy with the tree inside the card of that one, I'd used a 1" scoring gap, and I think it was too much, so this one I did in the video I used a 3/4" score gap, which I'm much happier with, and it left me room at the top for a star๐Ÿ˜, which I got from the Handcrafted Elements Dies (plus the ornament I used on the front of the card)

I think this designer paper is so beautiful, love the brightness, it really works for anything, doesn't have to be Christmas!, although looking at this photo, I'm thinking I should bling up the ornament with a bit of wink of stella (might do that in a bit!)

Anyway in order to make this card you'll need 5 strips of 12" long designer paper, widths of:

3.5cm / 3cm / 2.5cm / 2cm and 1.5cm

each of these need to be scored at 3/4" intervals then you concertina them up.  I find the easiest way to score is using the amazing Simply Scored Scoring Tool, if you don't have one, check it out!

You'll also need one other piece to act as the tree trunk, this needs to be around 3/4 wide, then 1 1/2" long, and scored at 1/4" / 3/4" / 1 1/4" and again concertina'd (the 2 little 1/4" flaps are the ones that adhere to the card.)

Add the tree trunk to the middle of your card first (around 1/4" away from the centre fold).  Then add the concertina'd strips in (glue on both side flaps of the strip, then pop it in butted up against the centrefold and hold the card shut for a moment till the glue sticks.

If that doesn't make sense, here's the video!

I hope this inspires you to create.

Something Saturday - Fancy Fold Tube Card

 Hi there Creators,

Today I'm "caseing" a card from one of my downline.  LeeAllan sent me this card, isn't it great?

fancy fold card, Stampin' Up!

So, the card she sent me was made not with A4 cardstock in mind (and I'm an A4 girl!) so I had to change the measurements a bit, then I couldn't keep the same design and added a bar at the top, so I could dangle a Christmas ornament, so Da Daaaa....... For this card I used a saying from Brightest Glow,  The Tartan Foil Specialty Designer Paper, More Dazzle Designer Paper, and the star of the show Handcrafted Elements Dies.

Fancy Fold Card, Stampin' Up!

During the video I make this next card, I've put the bar onto the bottom with this card, really the bar could go at any height!

This one uses the Oxidized Copper Specialty Designer Series paper, Oh my goodness it's gorgeous! and the saying comes from Circle Sayings Stamp set.

fancy fold card, Stampin' Up!

Onto the measurements......

Take an A5 piece of cardstock, fold in 1/2 at 10.5cm, then the front is scored at:

2.6cm, 5.2cm and 7.8cm this will give you a long square tube shape.

Then you'll also need a strip 2.5cm x 18.5cm, this is scored at 8cm and 10.6cm.

And then it's just a case of decorating up however you want to!

If you missed the video, here it is:

I hope this inspires you to create.

Something Saturday - Meandering Meadows Mini Cards

 Hi there Creators,

Today I'm showing you how to create 5 really cute mini cards with a single sheet of this gorgeous Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper (it's an Online Exclusive, in case you're wondering why you haven't seen it in the catalogue) - check the link out to see it!

In the catalogue are these cute 3" square mini envelopes (I rediscovered mine the other day) hence this post came about. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ Sometimes you just want a mini card to go with something!

First things first, let's show you the cards, then give you the measurements, and the video

The first set I made up before the video are these ones: bear in mind that there is a different design on both sides of the paper, I've also used the Adhesive Backed Dragonflies & Birds, they actually remind me of the Brushed Brass Butterflies that are in the annual catalogue (which I use a fair bit)  I've also used the Double Oval Punch (bit of a favourite punch - such a handy size)!  The Circle Sayings Stamp set, and Stampin' Write Markers

Meandering Meadows DSP, Stampin' Up!
Then these are the ones I make in the video:  Oh I forgot to say that I used the Adhesive sheets for the card that uses the gilded leafing.
Meandering Meadows DSP, Stampin' Up!

I did use the Stampin' Write Markers, thick ends to colour in the stamps and stamp them, I love the way you get a slightly mottled looking image using them (and the fact that they're such a versatile colouring medium)!  Did you know you can actually pick out certain words/images in the stamp to stamp separately with them, or potentially colour your words/images in many different colours like a rainbow effect?

Anyway I promised to share the card size with you,

Cut your A4 in 1/2 to make 2 A5 sized pieces, then score down the middle at 7.4cm, and cut into 7cm cards, Voila 3 mini cards out of each A5 sized card. ๐Ÿ˜

Then the Designer Paper is cut to 3" squares, then I've cut 5mm off both sides and 5mm off the top or bottom (not both).  This will make the piece the right size for the front of your mini card.  Keep the cut off pieces to create the gold card.

Here's the video in case you missed it:

I hope this inspires you to create

Something Saturday - Cool Christmas Bauble

 Hi there Creators,

So in the run up to Christmas I thought I should show you this bauble I came across the other day in YouTube "Elena's Craft Studio - How to make a Christmas ball from toilet roll".  I'm upping the ante and going with Designer Paper, rather than toilet roll๐Ÿคฃ

Anyway photos are always way more exciting than me waffling on (and they do say a picture says a thousand words)

Christmas Bauble, Stampin' Up!

Christmas Bauble, Stampin' Up!

Oh wow 2000 words already done!๐Ÿคฃ

The first one I made with retired cardstock, just to try it out, I'm pretty sure in her video she used 13cm x 1cm strips, but I didn't see the harm in using 14.8cm x 1cm (as then it's 1/2 A4 length)  however turns out you need more strips if you make it larger!  ha, who knew?  anyway I still like the look and you get 8 petals instead of 6, so the one I show in the video I made up using the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper, I scaled it down to the 13cm long, and end up with 6 petal shapes. I love the different designs on the outside and inside, I'll show you a couple more photos....

Christmas Bauble, Stampin' Up!

Christmas Bauble, Stampin' Up!

It's actually fairly simple to make these once you get going.

If you're doing the smaller one you'd need 15 strips cut to 13cm x 1cm.

12 of these need to be curled round and stuck to create the shape they put cancer awareness & other ribbons into (I googled what the shape is called but no joy).  Then you take 6 of them, pinch the middle bow bit to a point and attach all the points together (I used Glue dots, as I'm a bit scared of my hot glue gun - don't like getting burnt). Next you attach the little ends together (see the video)  Then repeat the process with the other 6.  Then attach both halves together (again see the video), and.......

2 are for the band around the middle and the last one is for the little hanging thingo at the top.

Right, so, clear as mud?  if you missed the video here it is;

I hope this inspires you to create, let me know if you have a go!

Hi there Creators,  Today I thought I'd play around with a couple of my latest goodies, Shepherds Care Stamp set and Snowy Delights Mas...
