February 2025 Class Cards

Image
Hi there Creators My goodness over 1/2 way through January!, so I figured seeing as I've made them I'd best share my class cards for Feb.  Classes are Friday 7th at 1pm in my classroom Laanecoorie and Saturday 8th at 10.30am at Wattle City Church Argyle Road, Maryborough.  Class cost is $24 for 4 cards I thought we'd better make the most of the Sale-a-Bration goodies, so this is Heart Shaped Bundle (stamps & dies) that you can get for free with an order of $200, it is a pretty bundle!  I've teamed it up with the new Antique Pearls this next one uses the rather cool Linked Together Decorative Masks and also the saying from With You in Mind (I rather like nice large sayings for cards and this one has a few! Moving onto a new punch: To the Point Label Punch and matching stamp set Bright Borders And last but not least one of the new Hybrid embossing folders (this means it has dies that go with the embossing folder): Beautiful Butterflies (never would have gu...

Something Saturday - Pop out Concertina Christmas Tree Card

 Hi There Creators

Today I'm showing you how to create a card that has a pop-out element in the middle which just happens to be a Christmas tree (surprise, surprise as it's almost Christmas!) I've used the fabulous Merry Bold & Bright Designer Series Paper, which sadly is on the retiring list 😔

Here is the middle of the first card I created before the video:

and the outside of the card.....

I wasn't 100% happy with the tree inside the card of that one, I'd used a 1" scoring gap, and I think it was too much, so this one I did in the video I used a 3/4" score gap, which I'm much happier with, and it left me room at the top for a star😁, which I got from the Handcrafted Elements Dies (plus the ornament I used on the front of the card)

I think this designer paper is so beautiful, love the brightness, it really works for anything, doesn't have to be Christmas!, although looking at this photo, I'm thinking I should bling up the ornament with a bit of wink of stella (might do that in a bit!)

Anyway in order to make this card you'll need 5 strips of 12" long designer paper, widths of:

3.5cm / 3cm / 2.5cm / 2cm and 1.5cm

each of these need to be scored at 3/4" intervals then you concertina them up.  I find the easiest way to score is using the amazing Simply Scored Scoring Tool, if you don't have one, check it out!

You'll also need one other piece to act as the tree trunk, this needs to be around 3/4 wide, then 1 1/2" long, and scored at 1/4" / 3/4" / 1 1/4" and again concertina'd (the 2 little 1/4" flaps are the ones that adhere to the card.)

Add the tree trunk to the middle of your card first (around 1/4" away from the centre fold).  Then add the concertina'd strips in (glue on both side flaps of the strip, then pop it in butted up against the centrefold and hold the card shut for a moment till the glue sticks.

If that doesn't make sense, here's the video!

I hope this inspires you to create.

God Bless love
