Cards for March Classes

 Hi There Creators

Well I have my March 4 Cards Class sorted😃 The Class dates are Friday 6th at 1pm in my classrooom Laanecoorie, and Saturday 7th 10.30am in Maryborough at the Wattle City Church in Argyle Road.

Here is what we'll be making:

I was kind of thinking this one would work for an Easter card, or a baby or kids card, or a cheeky, you're how old? card🤣 so I plan to bring along a variety of saying to go with it (which will probably be retired sayings as I didn't have anything appropriate in my current offering!)  it uses the ultra cute Darling Dinos, which has gone onto the retiring list🫤 and is currently cheaper to add to your cart as individual items rather than the bundle check these links out: Darling Dinos Stamp set, Darling Dinos Dies. I've also used the Easter Joy Specialty Designer Series Paper (has a lovely blingy sheen to it) and some of the Stampin' Blends to colour in the dinos and the flowers.

darling Dinos, Easter Joy DSP, Stampin' Up!

Next up is this nice and simple card, that doesn't have to say Thankyou, there are other sayings in this useful "With You in Mind" stamp set, I love the grungy look the background gets from the Gears & Textures Stamp set, and I've paired it up with the Joyful Squares Dies (may have mentioned this is one of my favourites🤣) and we're using the Square Snippets Designer paper, so everyone will have something different (no 2 squares the same 🤔)

With you in mind stamps, Gears & textures Stamps, Stampin' Up!

This card was inspired by Stampin' Up!'s Virtual Card Class (totally recommend it and it's still available)! it creates a 3 fold card, but using this absolutely gorgeous Painted Illusions Designer Series Paper Product of the Month (Feb, but may still be available in March) to get this paper you spend $125 and can pick it for $9😃 And the Forever Florals Bundle (that you get as part of the package with the virtual card class, but I believe it will be for sale in March)  and I remembered finally to use Vellum!! yay

Painted Illusions DSP, Forever Florals bundle, Stampin' Up!

Then last but not least this card which I was so happy with then I dropped my Stazon ink pad on it 🤦‍♀️and had to cover the marks with the flower posy, which hopefully enhances it🤣 If you don't think so when you make yours up, you can leave it without the added extra (so long as you don't repeat my boo boo!) It uses the Banner sayings bundle, the Whispers of Texture Specialty paper (that's the white pieces) and the pastels shimmer paper (love this!) and then the Forever Florals dies which is the same set as used on the above card, and it coloured in with the Stampin' blends.

Banner sayings Bundle, Forever Florals Dies, Stampin' Up!

and that's it!  I hope you can join us for one of the classes, and if you can't but you're keen to do them, let me know and we'll see if I can pop you in for another time/place.

I hope these inspire you to create

Something Saturday - Dinosaur Pop Out Swing Card

 Hi There Creators

I'd seen this Pop Out Swing card a couple of times and took notes, headed off to my Craft Room and had a couple of attempts with what I have available (Code for; I didn't have what they used🤣)

Oh my goodness once you remember to stick the swing bit on the correct side (the Right!) it's so easy😃🤩

Anyway just before we dive in, have you thought of joining Stampin' Up!?  If you love the goodies as much as I do, it doesn't take much to get yourself an ongoing 20% discount and this month when you purchase the "starter kit" which means picking out up to $235 of goodies, only paying $169, you also get the Brand New Stampin' Positioner for FREE!, Ask me if you're interested or check out this link: Join Stampin Up! (don't forget to find me as your demonstrator!)

I've used the Darling Dinos Stamp set (the Stamps and dies are on the retiring list now, and drastically reduced, - totally recommend adding them to your cart separately!, the bundle price is $71, but the Stamp Set is reduced to $22.20 and the Dies are reduced to $16.80 totaling $39!! - check out the links on the words.  In the card I made in the video I've also used the Joyful Squares Dies, and the Nature Walk Designer Series Paper, some Stampin' Blends to colour in the cute little Triceratops Dino too 😃

As you'll see in the video I'm human and make mistakes!  Kind of comforting when you see where others

have gone wrong🤦‍♀️

Anyway this is how the card turned out in the end...

Darling Dinos, Joyful Squares Dies, Stampin' Up!

Darling Dinos, Joyful Squares Dies, Stampin' Up!

I then went on to make another one with my new found knowledge of putting the swing piece on the right hand side and not the left! 🤣 Oh and you'll see I used a different die set, Nested Essentials Dies.

Darling Dinos, Nested Essentials Dies, Stampin' Up!

Darling Dinos, Nested Essentials Dies, Stampin' Up!
Ironically you still can't see the piece of Designer paper under the card where it swings out, but you do in "real life"  I've used a couple of the other images, from the set: footprints, rocks and sayings, oh and the party hat.

To create these cards is so simple!
Using A4 cardstock,
take your base card and cut a shape out of the middle front of it (keep the shape!) you can also decorate it, especially if you plan to stamp, at this stage.
Decorate the shape.
the middle mechanism measures 13.8cm x 20cm, and scored at 5 cm intervals (5, 10, 15cm) fold it so it goes up, across, down, across.  Decorate the first 3 parts (ie up, across, and down), leave the last "across" undecorated, as that's for writing on.
Attach the "up" section so it sits 1/2 way (approx) across the opening in your card, I'm not sure I can explain well how to attach the second "across" section, but ultimately it sits on the opposite side of your open card on the right hand side (your card will naturally sit right with it)
then you add the swing component, making sure you attach it on the RIGHT side (take note and learn from my mistake!🤣)
finish off any decorations and voila, one swing card.

If that was as clear as mud, check out my video.....

I really hope you have a go, because once you get the hang of it it's so easy, and does pack a Wow Factor😮

I hope this inspires you to create
God Bless love

Something Saturday - Holder for last weeks project

 Hi there Creators,

I mentioned last week that maybe I should create a holder for all those cards to sit in and make it look great as a gift, and guess what? this week that's exactly what I'm doing 😃

Before we get started with photos and measurements, I mentioned that there is a special joining deal going on this month, drum roll........  you can get the amazing "brand" new Stampin' Positioner Tool for FREE!  I show it off in my video, and the deal is pick out up to $235 of goodies, only pay $169 and get the new tool for free on top of this!  Then you get an ongoing 20% discount (I joined for the discount 18 years ago.....umm🤣)  I'd probably still join for the discount and I reckon since I joined the deal has gotten sweeter, as you also get the 10% Stampin' rewards the same as "customers" do.  Seriously it's a win, win!  anyway ask me about it if you're interested. and check it out here: Join Stampin' Up!

The next thing I mentioned is the new Craft Class Stampin' Up! are offering check it out here: Lovely Blossoms Craft Class, at only $44 I think this is really reasonably priced, you do need to have the Lovely Blossoms Suite Collection (which is rather lovely🤣) and has a really cool die in it, ironically I have all but the stamps & dies!

Then lastly is the new Product of the Month, ooooooo, yep it's goodie!   check it out here:  Product of the Month Feb 26, you need to purchase $125 and you can pick it for $9 (just think if you were a "demonstrator" you'd only be paying $100, but still getting the full 10% Stampin' Rewards😉) plus you wouldn't be paying $9 for it, you'd only be paying $7.20 (if my math is correct!)

Ok well let's move onto the reason you're here (just in case my previous mentions weren't it🤣)

bear with me it's difficult to get decent photos of a 3D project!  As you can see I've used the Lovely & Beautiful Specialty Designer Series paper as that's what I've used on the cards (which are the Notecards & envelopes pack), I would have used a 1/2 sheet of the paper, but I didn't have 1/2 sheet left over, so I've had to use 2 different designs, but thankfully they're kind of similar enough that it works ok.

Lovely & Beautiful Specialty DSP, Stampin' Up!

Lovely & Beautiful Specialty DSP, Stampin' Up!

Lovely & Beautiful Specialty DSP, Stampin' Up!
If you can it's best to keep the pattern running all the way round the box, I'd recommend starting on the front loose flap and then cutting your way round to the front, and doing the sides separately.

Lovely & Beautiful Specialty DSP, Stampin' Up!

And here is my first box I made up for the first set of cards I created using the Mixed Up Patterns Designer Paper, although the Designer paper on the outside of the box is actually a retired one, as I definitely didn't have enough of this paper to use 🤣

Mixed Up Patterns DSP, Stampin' Up!

To make the box for the notecards & envelopes you need an A4 sheet of cardstock plus some matching Designer paper.

First up score the A4 cardstock at 3.5cm in each side (long sides), and 6.5cm and 10cm in on each of the short sides., then  cut as shown in this photo:

Lovely & Beautiful Specialty DSP, Stampin' Up!

For the "mat's" just make them 1/2cm smaller all round, so for example the bottom measurement should be 6cm x 13.5cm (as you can see on the photo above)

Then cut where the red lines are, score the dotted lines.  Glue it together and voila😃

I hope this inspires you to create

Something Saturday - Mitred Corners

 Hi There Creators

I wanted to show you this really easy way to create a mitred corner, and display both sides of the Designer Series Paper at the same time.

Just quickly, in the video I show off some of the cards I made in the Virtual Card Retreat, it is still available if you want to check it out here is the link: Virtual Card Retreat.   I also mention an offer coming up on 3rd Feb where you can score the BRAND NEW Stampin' Positioner Tool before anyone else, when you join Stampin' Up!  Ironically mine arrived yesterday - the day after I recorded the video (and before I got to writing this up🤣) so stay tuned for next week! but here's a little teaser: Stampin' Positioner  and if you wonder why it's worth joining Stampin' Up!, check this out: Feb Exclusive Join offer.  I joined for the discount 18 years ago! (I still love it for the discount, especially when new goodies come out and I think there's so much I want how can I afford everything on my list, then I remember the discount!🤣😉💖)

Oh and I think I forgot to mention that coming up on 21st Feb is my CreateAlong Video, if you want a kit to go with it, you'll need to order that before 3rd Feb, contact me for payment details.

Last time I made these mitred cards, I was using the Mixed Up Patterns Designer Series Papers, which I actually didn't expect to like as much as I do!🤣 I've also used the January "Product of the Month" stamp set - Fabulous Sayings, I have to admit I wish it was a regular item, as has such a great font for the words, and are really useful wordings!  If you haven't got it yet, you need to place an order for $125 and you can pick it out for $9 (totally worth it in my humble opinion!) And, if you get your order in within the next couple of days (before 2nd Feb) you'll qualify for Bonus Day's Vouchers - this is where for every $90 you order, you get a $9 voucher to spend next month! (woo hoo!)

Mixed Up Patterns DSP, Fabulous Sayings, Stampin' Up!

Anyway in the video, I made up this card with it's matching envelope: using the Lovely & Beautiful Specialty Designer Series Paper, I had originally made the border 1/2" but then it felt too bulky, so cut it down to 1/4" and used the cut off pieces to create the border on the envelope (win, win!)

Lovely & Beautiful SDSP, Fabulous Sayings Stamps, Stampin' Up!

I couldn't resist creating more with this gorgeous paper...... this card made in the same way with the mitred corners, I just love being able to display both sides of the specialty paper!

Lovely & Beautiful SDSP, Fabulous Sayings Stamps, Stampin' Up
Then, I just had to create 4 more to show off the other pieces of paper in the range🤣, Humm now to create something for them to go into...........maybe next weeks video, we'll see!
Lovely & Beautiful SDSP, Fabulous Sayings Stamps, Stampin' Up

So, how to create these mitred corners?  really simple:

Take your piece of Designer Paper (with different patterns on each side) cut it down to the size you want (if you want the border to be 1/4" you'll need to add 1/2" to the finished size)

eg: if you want the finished size to be 5" x 3" you'll need to cut the paper to 5 1/2" x 3 1/2"

Then score 1/4" all the way round the 4 edges of your paper, and snip off a triangle from each of the corners (making sure the mid point is the scored cross), fold the cardstock and stick it down.

If that was as clear as mud and you missed the video, here it is:

I hope this inspires you to create!

Something Saturday - Oh my goodness Heather is doing scrapbooking!

 Hi there Creators,

yes you heard it right I'm actually doing some scrapbooking, in theory the "easy" way.  And if I didn't have 175 photos to get through of my holiday/Stampin' Up! conference trip to the USA then I might consider doing the pages the way they suggest!

Having said that once I got the hang of it, I did quite enjoy doing this Kit: Exploring Nature Scrapbooking Kit.

My top tips with doing this are.....

  • cut all the cardstock and label each piece (even if it's with a sticky note rather than pencil)
  • lay out your base sheets and add all the pieces needed for each page to it (then when you come to create the page you have all the bits you need ready and waiting)
  • Lay out 2 pages at once (next to each other so you can check the pattern and lines go across at the same level (of course if you use the calculations in the kit instructions they should match anyway!)
  • sort out photos you'd like to use on the pages, if you need to add more than they suggest decide which ones you want on each page and work out how you plan to cut them down to fit in!
  • Make sure you start off with enough adhesive!  I was using Stampin' Seal, (and you can get refills to save your purse! Stampin' Seal refill) perfect for this project, but did run out of my first roll, it uses a LOT!  who knew scrapbooking was so "adhesive intensive"?!
Now, rhetorical question, would you like to see how mine turned out?......

Exploring Nature Scrapbooking Kit, Stampin' Up!

Exploring Nature Scrapbooking Kit, Stampin' Up!

Exploring Nature Scrapbooking Kit, Stampin' Up!

As you can see I squeezed way more photos into mine🤣  the kit say 13 photos (but I notice they display it with 17!),  however, I'm proud to announce I got 24 in😃🤣

This is what they were meant to look like

Exploring Nature Scrapbooking Kit, Stampin' Up!
Exploring Nature Scrapbooking Kit, Stampin' Up!
Exploring Nature Scrapbooking Kit, Stampin' Up!

Umm, I'm happy with mine, that's the main thing, I really liked having the framework to go with, that someone else has worked out the basics so all I needed to do really was work out where I actually wanted to put my photos, even if I did get a little carried away with my last pages and even used the DSP the other way up - it was my favourite piece of DSP, and they had it gray side up!! sacrilege🤣

If you missed the video on how I went about this, here it is (very much a trial fact-finding mission) but I will definitely order more, the next one on my radar is Beach Time Scrapbooking Kit, as it'll go well with the Palm Trees in some more of my US photos

Do come back and join me next Saturday, where we'll be heading back to cardmaking techniques
(or will we?..... TBD)

Something Saturday - Stair Strips Card

 Hi There Creators,

Well I have no idea what this card is meant to be called so I'm calling it a Stair strips card kind of because it's made of strips and looks like stairs (Heather logic🤣).

I'm using last months Product of the Month which was these True Blue Florals papers at time of writing this, they are still available, if you do a $125 order you can pick them for $9😃  However for the first 5 people who place a $75 order before postage this month you'll get a pack of 6x6 sheets (1 of each design) as a thankyou from me.  And don't forget to check out January's Product Of The Month! Definitely worth the order in my humble opinion!

Anyway onto my "Stair Strips Card" I taught in the video today
Here is the card I created today: On top of the True Blue Florals Designer Paper I've stamped the leaves from Nature's Symphony Stamp set, and the saying cut out with the Labelled with Love punch comes from there too, a spot of Pastels Shimmer paper behind the saying, and some of the Shades of Green Hexagons.

True Blue Florals, Nature's Symphony, Stampin' Up!

This is the one I received as a swap at Backstage. Which uses the beautiful Florals in Bloom Designer Paper, and the Pretty Florals Dies.

Stampin' Up!

And now for the measurements of mine.....

Base Card A4 length x 10cm, scored at 3.7cm and 7.4cm in each side.
Base (Shaded Spruce) Strips: 14.8cm x 10cm cut into 2.5cm strips
Designer paper Strips: 13.8cm x 8cm
Plus Designer paper to go inside your card: 14.3cm x 9.5cm
White to go inside your card 13.3cm x 8.5cm

the Base Strips get cut at; 2 strips at 4cm, and the other 2 strips at 6cm
the Designer Strips get cut at: 2 strips at 3.5cm and the other other 2 strips at 5.5cm

Then assemble your card, if the pattern is really obvious on the Designer Paper, make sure you keep it in the right order!

If you missed the video here it is:

And if you're wondering when my February Classes are that I showed you the cards for, they're on 6th & 7th Feb, make sure you've signed up for my emails to get the details about them (and there is a blog post on here about them too dated 9th Jan)

I hope this inspires you to create,

Something Saturday - Cute as a Bug

Hi There Creators

Today I was playing around with my section of  Cute as a Bug Designer Series Paper, initially I'd used a piece and cut it with some rectangle dies, which I thought I'd discovered were discontinued, however, now I've just realised they have a different name to what I thought they were, and yay still current!  Textured Note Dies,  here it is.....

Cute as a Bug DSP, Stampin' Up!

To be honest it's probably not paper I'd normally use, but I went in a 4 way paper share with others in my team, which was totally worth it to see what the papers were like in the "flesh" as it were!  And I'm happy to have a little bit of it to play around with.

I then moved onto the  Everyday Arches Dies to cut the one I create in the video, here it is:

Cute as a Bug DSP, Stampin' Up!

The Foam Adhesive Strips are invaluable to propping up the middle piece, then I've added some Adhesive Backed Metallic Gems and used the Banner Sayings bundle with Cajun Craze ink and cardstock (funny I didn't expect to use the stamp set from this bundle as much as I have, I knew I'd use the punch heaps!)

The little bug images in the paper are quite easy to cut out, which I suspect is what I'll be doing with heaps of them🤣

If you missed the video here it is:

I hope this inspires you to create too 😃

And.... I thought I'd give you a little sneak peek of the CreateAlong cards that I'll be making on 21st Feb make sure you sign up for my emails to get the details of how to order your CreateAlong Kit:

February Class Cards

 Hi There Creators,

Yep I'm organised enough to be able to put up here the cards we'll be creating next month🤩

This month is the start of the new fee structure for my "4 Cards Class"  So the class will be $30 or free with a $35 order (my hope is that it will bump up my orders with Stampin' Up!, and get me closer on the path to earning the incentive trip) 🚢

Dates are Friday 6th at 1pm in Laanecoorie, and Saturday 7th at 10.30am in Maryborough.

And here are the cards.....

This first card uses the beautiful Brushed with Beauty Designer Series Paper, Textured Metallic Specialty Paper, Old Olive specialty Rickrack Ribbon, Banner Sayings Bundle and the Spotlight on Nature Dies

Brushed With Beauty DSP, Stampin' Up!

I'm quite chuffed with this next one, as the "horseshoe" shape is made by positioning the photpolymer stamp in a different way than intended, (which came to me as I was putting it on the block!)  now I'm thinking I might need that horse stamp set after all🤣  anyway I've used Addressed to you stamp set, plus the Sweet Jars stamp set for the sayings, the Everyday Arches Dies, and some Stampin' Blends (alcohol markers).

Addressed to You stamps, stampin' up!

Card 3 (had to do 2 photos to show this one off) I've used the Celebratory Sips Designer Paper, Heartfelt Hexagon punch, Natures Symphony stamp set and Simply Said Stamp set

Celebratory Sips DSP, Natures Symphony, Stampin' Up!

Celebratory Sips DSP, Natures Symphony, Stampin' Up!

And last but not least this one using Encircled with Love stamp set, Timeless Plaid Designer Paper and a couple of the circle punches, now I'm looking at it on here it looks a bit windmill-like!

Encircled with Love stamps, Timeless Plaid DSP, Stampin' Up!

And that's it!  I hope you can come along and join in, make sure you let me know so I can get your kits ready for you.

Something Saturday - New Mini Jan 26 Catalogue & Online Designer Papers (and a couple of cards)

 Hi There Creators

Well that felt like a long title today!  Just before you go searching for them, they won't be available to anyone other than demonstrators until 6th January.  (Excellent reason for becoming a demonstrator😃) - just ask me if you're interested!

In case you didn't get the email, I'm offering consumable share packs, which will give you varying from 1/2 packs to 1/8 packs of Papers/ embellishments/ ribbons and Ephemera. I plan to order them on 7th Jan (so be quick!)

The basic info is...

Designer Papers there's 14 packs, happy to split either 4 ways at $78 (6x12" piece of each) or 8 ways at $39 (6x6" piece of each)

Embellishments there's 7 different packs of these, split 4 ways at $26 per pack

Ribbons there's 6 reels, split 4 ways $23 gives you just over 2m of each

Ephemera, there's 6 different packs, split between 2 works out to $46 each

If I need to mail them out to you let me know and I can work out postage, I know the papers plus anything else will fit in a medium postbag which is $11.50, but if you're not after the papers I can fit it into something smaller.

Ok, onto what I created today, I chose the Square Snippets Designer paper which I suspect may become a bit of a favourite!  Plus I ended up using (all new goodies)  Sparkle dot essentials, Pearlized Faceted Circles, Secret Sea Open Weave Ribbon, Gold & White ribbon, Natures Symphony Stamp set, Joyful Squares Dies, (I think that's it!) I didn't get round to finishing these in the video, so drum roll please.....

Square Snippets DSP, Joyful Squares Dies, Stampin' Up!

then I kind of kept going and made this one too 😃

Something Saturday - Fancy Fold Card I created for BackStage

 Hi there Creators,

As I mentioned in the video, this card I designed for my Backstage Fancy Fold swap.  As my roomie liked it I ended up giving her my original card, I figured I've made it at least 10x how hard can it be to make another one? 🤣  Apparently when you give yourself a break from making them it takes a bit to get back into it! (take heed of my mistakes in the video, so you create your own ones😃).  I haven't got round to naming this fold, maybe V Bouquet?  what do you think? let me know if you have any ideas.

I wanted to give people something that was totally original, and I'm quite pleased with how it turned out, this was the inside of the one I gave away (not dis-similar to the one I produce in the video)  Probably the video one was a little simpler.  I've used the So Swirly Embossing Folder (which I didn't in the video, but it does add a little "something"), The Charming Day bundle, which sadly is on the Last Chance list, however if you're quick you might be able to get the Charming Day Stamp set, and charming Day Dies at discounted prices (cheaper than the bundle price $59.20 vs $91.75 😮)  and the stamp set in the background is Layers of Beauty (Oh Soooo worth it, I've used this stamp/dies/mask set so much)

Stampin' Up!, fancy fold, Charming Day

Moving on to the images from the card I made in the video.....  I completely forgot to add flowers in the background until I'd stuck it down (oops!)  learn from my mistakes🤣

Stampin' Up!, fancy fold, Charming Day

then the underside you so you can see the fold lines....

Stampin' Up!, fancy fold, Charming Day
And the "top side"  gee now I'm thinking Steak..🥩

Stampin' Up!, fancy fold, Charming Day
Oh and I'd better show you the front, which is deliberately plain-ish, as the inside is so fancy

Stampin' Up!, fancy fold, Charming Day

Well, now..... how to make the inside of this, it's actually not as complicated as it looks, you take a piece of 19.5cm x 10cm thick white card, fold in 1/2 at 9.5cm, then score diagonal but parallel lines to create the V shapes, mine are spaced 1/2" apart for the 1st 3 score lines then the last one is 1" lower than the other one.

fold the lines both ways so it's easier to persuade them to fold in the direction you need them to, then it's kind of a case of concertina'ing them to create the mountains & valleys folds, clear as mud?

Watch the video here:

Well I really hope you have a go at this, it's really not as hard as it looks! probably the hardest part is working out where to put your flowers so they don't stick out the sides too much

Let me know if you have a go, and I hope this inspires you to create.

God Bless love

Encircled with Love Notes Class

Hi There Creators I'm holding an extra card class on 28th March 2.30pm in my classroom in Laanecoorie (and possibly in another location...
