Something Saturday - Magic Slider Card

 Hi There Creators,

Today I'm showing how I make a magic slider card, here is the original one I made up using the Bright & Beautiful Suite:

with the stamps I've used my Brights Stampin' Write Markers to create the rainbow effect by colouring directly onto the stamps, then you huff on the stamp to put moisture back onto it, then stamp it.

Beautiful Balloons, Magic Slider card, Stampin' Up!

Then this is the one I made up in the video using the Online Exclusive Trucking Along Bundle, so cool, it's a punch and stamp set.

I've used the Gold Celebrations Specialty Designer Series "paper" I'd call it acetate!  as I thought it was kind of fun having the printed acetate instead of plain, and there's a bonus that one side is gold and the other is silver 😊  I've also stamped directly onto the Herringbone Ribbon, I love that you can do that with this ribbon as it's quite smooth, and wide.

I promised the measurements on here, so here goes, you'll need:

  • A 1/2 piece of A4 (cut lengthways), so it'll measure 29.7cm x 10.5cm,  this is then scored into 3 equal pieces, at 9.9cm (I just score at that both ends)
  • A piece of cardstock measuring 9.7cm x 12cm
  • A piece of window sheeting (acetate), I used patterned also measuring 9.7cm x 12cm
  • I've also used Brights Designer Series Paper, you'll need 3 pieces to cover the edges of the card, I've gone with 1.4cm x 10.5cm and scored down the length at 7mm

The other things you'll need are a punch or die to create the aperture in the front of the card, a stamp set which will work with your card, as you can see I've chosen with the first card, to create the interest in the die cut balloons when the card is "closed", and only stamped the saying onto the acetate (you'll want to use stazon ink for this, unless you plan to heat emboss).  Or you can pick a stamp set which can be coloured in, so the top image (on the acetate) you leave plain, then colour the image underneath, so the design pops when you pull the tab upwards, both ways create a great magical effect.

Something Saturday - Corner Fold Pop Out card

 Hi there Creators,

well today is an original design by me, I've called it "Corner Fold Pop Out Card".  Last weekend was our big Multi-team weekend Creative Connections event, and I was doing a presentation on the Bright & Beautiful suite, and taught this card at the end.

In our video today I've used the Inked Botanicals Designer Series Paper which is the same one I was using in my Something Saturday card last week.  I love that is has a Vanilla Base colour rather than white - gives my white cardstock a bit of a rest! 😁

Anyway let's show you the photos then instructions after....

So this is the card I taught at the Creative Connections event:

One of my friends suggested I should decorate the front of the card, so the one I did in the video now has this on the front of it:
Inked Botanicals Paper, Cheerful Daisies, Stampin' Up!
Then when you open it up, the daisies pop out, I felt this paper went well with the Cheerful Daisies Dies, so I've used the dies to die cut direct from the Designer Paper

Inked Botanicals Paper, Cheerful Daisies, Stampin' Up!
And you really need to decorate both sides of the pop out element, hence another bunch of daisies on this side too as the piece isn't symmetrical, I've just added the second lot on the wrong way round (if that makes sense!)

Ok, so how to make this card you will need
  • your usual A5 base card folded in 1/2 at 10.5cm, then folded in 1/2 the other way at 7.4cm
  • you'll also need 4 pieces of DSP measuring 2 3/4" x 4"
  • Piece of window sheeting (acetate) 1 1/2"x 3"
  • And decorative elements
Take the base card and use a bone scorer to fold it and crease the lines well (fold both folds inwards)
Along the bottom edge measure 7.4cm out from the middle on both sides, and mark lightly with a pencil.
Score from the pencil mark to the middle cross of your card, so you end up with a triangle at the bottom (see photo)
you will need to mountain fold the triangle at the bottom.  Before you add the window sheeting in you need to decorate it with the rectangles of Designer Paper
so imagine this next one has the Designer paper on it too, then sandwich the window sheeting into it and stick it well! (window sheeting coloured red here so you can see it)

Then decorate it up, word of warning - make sure when it folds up it will fit into your envelope, and also remember to decorate both sides of the window sheet.

I hope this inspires you to have a go at this, if you do, let me know how it turns out!

Something Saturday - Double Window Shutter Card

 Hi there Creators

today I'm showing how to make a card I'm calling a double window shutter card, as I'm not sure where I saw it (if I did I may have just dreampt it up!, or what it was called if I did see it somewhere and it had a name!)

Anyway I doubt very much mine would be the same as anyone else's (I'm like that!)

So here's my original one I created, I've used the Sea Turtles stamp set to make this one:

double window shutter card, sea turtles, Stampin' Up!

this time I decided to use the Inked Botanicals Designer Series Paper, I love that it has a vanilla background to it and gives my white cardstock a rest!

double window shutter card, Inked botanicals DSP, Cheerful Daisies, Stampin' Up
I've added the Cheerful Daisies Dies, and used the Distressed Gold Specialty paper for the inside pieces of the flowers, I've deliberately left the other side without stamping, as I'm not quite sure who I'm giving it to yet!

Something Saturday - Delightful Doily Hybrid

 Hi there Creators

Today we're looking at the Delightful Doily Hybrid, it's an embossing folder with dies.  During July you can earn Bonus Days Coupons Spend $90 and get a $9 coupon (this is cumulative), whilst these dies are $74 you could add the embellishments I've used below and some glue (or add a bit of ribbon, paper... you name it!)

As the name suggests you can create a doily effect with it and I've shown off a few ways to use it in the video, but basically...

you can cut the main flat images as shown (excuse the fact the large one is embossed, this gets done in the video)

Delightful Doily Hybrid, Stampin' Up!
then you can line them up inside the embossing folder and emboss them (I've brushed over a bit of colour so you can see the pattern)
Delightful Doily Hybrid, Stampin' Up!
Then lastly you can cut them out with the intricate die, and emboss them, it creates such a wow!

then I thought you might need to see a close up, I've added some of the Festive Pearls to the middle of each of mine as they blended really well with the colours I chose

I hope this inspires you to create too.

Something Saturday - Paper Florist Dies

 Hi There Creators

Today we're checking out the really Cool "Paper Florist Dies"  these are stand alone dies, which create absolutely fabulous flowers, you can make arrangements out of them.. attach them to paper bags.... create displays with them, pretty much wherever you can use artificial flowers you could use these!  During July you can earn Bonus Days Coupons Spend $90 and get a $9 coupon (this is cumulative), whilst these dies are $65 you could add the embellishments I've used below and get over the line (or add a bit of ribbon, paper... you name it!)

I have used them on the bags I've made for my Mega class which actually is happening today! (didn't click when I made the video that it would be on the same day!)  I've used some of the Brights cardstock to create my flowers and here they are....

First up a heap of the ones I created before the video for the bags

Paper Florist Dies, Stampin' Up!
then the embellishment on the bags themselves I've also added some of the Brushed Brass Butterflies, and Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels

Paper Florist Dies, Stampin' Up!

And an up close of the large flower with the cool stand up bit in the middle....

All you need is glue and a bone scorer once you've cut out the pieces, check out my video to see how I've created these:

Something Saturday - A Useful Gift

Hi There Creators,

Today I needed a new notebook for my sermon notes, so I thought what better than to show you how I decorate up notebooks as presies for others, (and myself)  I buy mine from Kmart, but I don't think it would matter where you buy them.

And on to the photos:

Stampin' Up!, Useful Gift, decorated notebook
My notebook started off without the extra elastic, and at the end of my video I added an extra section to show how I add the elastic to it to keep it closed when not in use. But basically you just punch two small holes in the backboard of your notebook (top & bottom) thread through the elastic and tie it tight enough that it will loop round the front and not be baggy.  I've also given my Designer Paper 2 mats one in Copper clay and the other as Pretty Peacock.  It really is a case of measure your notebook and decide on your own sizes!  the last thing I did was add a length of ribbon tied to the top of the spiral binding (make sure you only tie it to one piece of wire (not the double loop) as otherwise it will slip off!

Stampin' Up!, Useful Gift, decorated notebook

I also heat embossed in gold this saying from Hope & Prayer stamp set, it doesn't show up really well (but as it's for me - I know it's there 😉)

How pretty is this paper?  this is Earthen Elegance Designer Paper (very popular)

And that's it!  if you missed the video and would like to check it out here it is:

I hope this inspires you to dig out Designer Paper and decorate up a few noteboooks!
