Something Saturday - Elegant Border Dies

 Hi There Creators,

Today we're checking out these absolutely gorgeous Elegant Border Dies, they are an "OnLine Exclusive" thing, so you can't find them in the catalogue, however there is hope!  check out this link:  Elegant Border Dies.  As soon as I saw them I knew they were keepers!  not in the least bit masculine 🤣

Anyway in the video I simply show them and cut them out, unless you stayed right till the end in which case you'll have seen the cards I'm showing off here:

Elegant Border Dies, Stampin' Up!
The blue card uses Starry Sky and Bermuda Bay inks rubbed onto the card using the blending brushes, and silver heat embossing for the saying.

I wanted this card to Pop, so I chose the Parakeet Party as the base, and the Fine Shimmer Paper is just stunning for the butterflies.  I also mention in the video that I have mixed up gold & silver embossing powder to do the saying, as it kind of ends up a champagne sort of colour which went better than the gold or silver on their own would have done.
Elegant Border Dies, Stampin' Up!
In the black & White one above I've used more online exclusive products: Irresistible Blooms Bundle.

And this Christmas card uses a carry over stamp set from the Christmas Catalogue: Brightest Glow Stamp set (it's a fabulous Christmas word'y set)

Then last but not least if you were here 2 weeks ago you'll know I was showing off Bendi cards, so here is my latest bendi card:  This one uses Awash in Beauty Designer Paper and as you can see I've managed to fit 3 out of the 4 dies onto my card (yay go me!)  just not enough "arms" for 4 🤣

Feel like this was a good day's work!  What do you think?

I hope this inspires you too

Something Saturday - Colourful Kaleidoscope

Hi There Creators

Oh my goodness you need to get this kit!!  I have just scratched the surface of some of the things to use it for (other than making the 9 cards it's meant to make lol)

Here is the link to check it out:  Colorful Kaleidoscope (yes colour is spelt wrong 🤣- it's an American thing)  Seriously amazing kit especially if you're prepared to add more cardstock, some extra ink colours and potentially sacrifice some of the intended cards.

Anyway here are the "official" cards you can make with the kit (it comes with 3 of each)  Won't you just check out those envelopes!!  I reckon there's a card or two just by taking those apart 🤣

Colorful Kaleidoscope, Stampin' Up!

Colorful Kaleidoscope, Stampin' Up!

However when you are prepared to sacrifice a bit....... (admittedly they're not quite finished yet, still require sayings but you get the drift!)

I used the reverse sides of the overlays as a mask, and they do turn out kind of pretty themselves! got to add bling!   If you're careful with them you can turn them back over and use them as intended too

If you'd like to check out the video, here it is!

I hope this inspires you that you can do more with a kit than it's meant for😉

Something Saturday - Bendi Cards

 Hi there Creators,

I was deciding what to make for my Tutorial card (I'm part of a global monthly tutorial group called Crafty Collaborations, when you purchase $75+ of goodies from me, I send the whole tutorial of around 35+ projects out as a thank you).  Anyway, I was at the Picture to Page Show and the only stamp set I had with me was the Legendary Ride (motorbikes) with Ready to Ride matching designer papers, so guess what I used 🤣  and here is the card I created.....

Ready to Ride, Stampin' Up!

Anyway I was thinking it would be fun to make another similar card, and that I should do a video on it, so...... here is the card I made for the video

I've used the True Beauty Bundle to create it, along with the Abigail Rose Designer Paper, Oh and not forgetting the Delicate Edges Dies!

True Beauty Dies, Delicate Edges Dies, Stampin' Up!

As promised the measurements for the Bendi cards:

Take your A4 piece of card, cut it in  1/2 lengthways, then score it in 1/2 at 14.8cm

With the front of the card you'll now cut it so you just have a section 5 cm high, and take off the top section (so it looks a bit like an arm) you need to score a 1/2cm piece in at the end of the "arm"

Take the piece that you cut off and cut it down to 2.5cm (actually I think I used the 3cm piece for this card, due to the die cut), anyway you'll need to score whichever piece you use at 1cm in one side and 1/2 cm in the other side

Attach the 1cm scored piece to opposite side of your card (so you now have 2 arms)

Now decorate your card up

You'll also need to create 2 "button" type bits that will attach up on dimensionals for your 1/2cm scored bits at then end of the "arms" to hook under, and create the bends.

As I was using the rather lovely trellis die from Organic Beauty Dies, I figured I shouldn't waste the little diamondy bits, so made this bonus card up by slotting in the cut outs back in, and attaching them to the card, then removing the trellis.  Paired up with the matching True Beauty Stamps (so pretty!)

True Beauty Dies, Stampin' Up!

Here's the video in case you missed it:

I hope this inspires you to have a go at Bendi Cards too, and don't forget if you place a $75+ order with me, you'll get an email with written instructions to the first card shown here plus a heap more projects.

Something Saturday - Heat embossing with stencils

 Hi there Creators

today I thought I'd have a play around to see what it would look like to heat emboss using stencils or masks (in this case the Artistic Mix Decorative Masks)  I love the tartan look you can get with these ones, and I said to Tom (hubby) I think I made the perfect card for a Scottish Essendon Supporter 🤣 (you'll see....)

I wanted to try out both lots of the embossing powders and as they come in packs of 3 colours it kind of worked (bearing in mind I used clear last week).  In with the "Basics Embossing Powders" you have Black, White and Clear.  Then in with the "Metallics Embossing Powders" there are Gold, Silver and Copper

the first card I made up used the Metallics, here it is, it's kind of cool that you can heat emboss over top of heat embossing.  With this card I did the big silver squares first then the small gold squares & lines.  heat embossing always looks classy (especially the metallics)  I've used the Limited Edition stamp set to create these cards, and I love this saying:

Heat embossing, Stampin' Up!, Artistic Mix decorative masks

Then I moved onto the black & white embossing powders, and figured that to make them stand out I'd need a colour underneath (hence I picked Real Red)  this is how it started, I pressed versamark through the small checkered stencil onto the red card, peeled off the stencil then dusted over with white and heat set it, it actually looks pretty good just like this!

Heat embossing, Stampin' Up!, Artistic Mix decorative masks

then I added the larger squares mask and added black embossing powder to this first one, then I couldn't resist seeing how it would turn out the other way round (black then white), interesting how they are totally different! (you wouldn't get this effect in the same way from ink alone)

Heat embossing, Stampin' Up!, Artistic Mix decorative masks

Anyway then I made them up into cards..... (see what I mean about the Scottish Essendon Supporter?)

This first one I made up into a similar card to the first Metallics card, with a piece of ribbon across the bottom and saying in the middle stamped onto vellum.

Heat embossing, Stampin' Up!, Artistic Mix decorative masks
Then this card I made up into one of those book bind cards (I think that's what they're called!) and finally used one of the cool Enamel Sticker Icons with the saying
Heat embossing, Stampin' Up!, Artistic Mix decorative masks
And that's it!

Class Cards for April

 Hi There Creators

My classes in April are marginally disrupted with Easter, the Maryborough Class has moved forwards to 1st as otherwise we'd be meeting on Easter Saturday, which might not be the best move!

So with that in mind, the first class is Sat 1st at 10.30am in Maryborough, then  Wednesday 5th 10.30am in Laanecoorie, and Thursday 6th 7pm in Laanecoorie  $20 for 4 cards, and here are the cards:

I have finally broken into the Flat Adhesive Backed Pearls - it's one of those embellishments I just can't help but look at and admire how beautiful they are 🤣 you know the sort that you don't want to use, you just want to admire?  Anyway I liked the idea of having a couple spilling out of the bottle with gilded leafing.  I've used the Heron Habitat Bundle for the stamped (and die cut) bits, a bit of the By the Bay Designer Paper, and the Jar Punch to finish it off

Heron Habitat, Stampin' Up!

Next card uses one of the new "Online Exclusive" products this is Irresistible Blooms Stamp set, teamed up with the Essential Tag Punch and Black & White Gingham Ribbon

Irresistible Blooms Stamps, Stampin' Up!
This next card also uses new "Online Exclusive" goodies, in the form of 2 embossing folders, it's actually a pack of 3 called Basics Embossing Folders, so potentially it's up to you which ones you choose for your card.
Basics embossing folders, Stampin' Up!
And last but not least, I may have got carried away with the online exclusive goodies!  here we have the beautiful Hello Irresistible Designer paper, so pretty!  plus one of the dies from the Delicate Edges Dies.
Hello Irresistible Designer Paper, Stampin' Up!

Do book your place and join us for the class, look forward to seeing you

I hope these inspire you to create.

Something Saturday - Watercolouring Part 2: Watercolour Lifting

 Hi there Creators,

Well today I've continued on with the watercoloured pieces I produced last Saturday and now I'm showing off "Watercolour Lifting"  I don't recall trying this before, but the basic jist of it is:

  1. Create a watercoloured background and let dry completely
  2. Stamp over top using versamark
  3. dust over with clear embossing powder & heat set it
  4. spray water over and blot off to remove some of the colour, until the clear embossed images stand out (the colour under the embossed image will remain "full strength")

And that's it in a nutshell, here are the 2 cards I created using the watercoloured backgrounds I created last week:

This first one uses Natures Prints Stamps to create the collage of leaves in the background, then I've used the Celebrating You stamps for the sayings in both cards, then this one I also used the gorgeous Iridescent Pastel Pearls (very pretty!)

Watercolour Lifting, Stampin' Up!, Natures Prints Stamps

Then this is the one I made up in the video, and I finally found a use for the Loose Daisy Embellishments! I've used Eden's Garden Stamps for it, I'm not sure the big stamp was really the best to use as the DistInkTive Stamp surface doesn't really work hence it kind of has a big blob in the centre (and hence I put 3 daisies in there 🤣)  As I say in Class - there's always a way to correct things with a card!   and in this case a definite embellishment opportunity 😉

Watercolour Lifting, Stampin' Up!, Edens Garden Stamps

In case you missed the video, here it is:

Let me know if you have a go at this, I'd love to see how yours turns out!

I hope this inspires you to create.

Something Saturday - Watercolouring a background

 Hi there Creators,

Well, if you're anything like me watercolouring is a challenge, that usually ends up as a bit of a muddy mess, however after a bit of experimentation I've come up with these:  I'm not sure the colours look quite as vibrant on here as they are in person, but suffice it to say, Wow I impressed myself 🤣

watercolouring backgrounds, Stampin' Up!, Being CreateAble with Heather
Somehow my husband saw a puppy dog with a Santa hat on in this one, above, when I gave it to him to look at.... umm ok (should I be worried lol)  then I explained that no, they're not those weird things psychiatrists give you to see just how nutty you are.....
watercolouring backgrounds, Stampin' Up!, Being CreateAble with Heather

Anyway to do this (in a nutshell)  I taped the watercolour paper down to a heat proof tray using washi tape, sprayed heaps of water onto it, then dipped my water painter into various ink  colours and allowed it to drip onto the water laden paper (I used the brights re-inkers), then I used my heat tool to dry it off.

Here's the video if you want to check it out:

Oh and come back next week to see what I actually do with these (hopefully my plan works....)

I hope this inspires you to have a go too.

Something Saturday - Fancy Fold Card

Hi There Creators Today I'm showing off an old card fold I created a few years back, and had a request to do a video on it, - Yay love r...
