Something Saturday - Slit Slider Card

Hi there Creators

Today I'm showing off a slider card, one of the presenters at the Stampin' Up! Onstage event we went to in Melbourne showed a similar card, so I thought I should have a go too 😍  I love the way it looks like the element is floating across the card.

Anyway here are the finished cards I made up:

Slit Slider Card, Stampin' Up!

Slit Slider Card, Stampin' Up!

I have used the Keeping Tabs bundle for the pull tab piece, and the Attention Shoppers Bundle for the cake, bottles & sayings, and also the Labelled with Love Punch  (little note, if you plan to come to my July Mega Class you'll receive the Attention Shoppers stamp set and Labelled with Love Punch as part of your kit)  Oooo so exciting!

To create these cards you'll need:

A Base Card (A5 folded in 1/2) which gives a front of 14.8cm x 10.5cm

A piece of (in this case) white cardstock 5mm shorter = 14.3cm x 10cm

A piece of Designer Paper 1/2cm smaller again = 13.8cm x 9.5cm

A long straight strip of card in this case 13cm x 3cm

And a smaller piece to attach the sliding image to.

(you'll also need the image you want to have sliding across the card, and other decorations)

I'm not sure I can do a decent job of explaining how to do this, so I recommend you watch the video!

And here it is.....

I hope I've inspired you to have a go at making one of these too, I think they're so much fun! (and really quite easy to make!)

June Class Cards

 Hi there Creators,

Just a quick plug, if you're reading this and it's still May, there is an AMAZING joining offer, check it out here: Join Heather's Team

I have June's cards worked out, and ready to go 😁  there's a heap of new goodies in this line up.  Class dates are:

  • Tues 4th at 12.30pm (or as close to that as possible) in Laanecoorie,
  • Thursday 6th at 7pm in Laanecoorie, and
  • Saturday 8th at 10.30am in Maryborough.

Let's get to it, here are the cards and what I've used:

This first one uses one of the Online only embossing folders Fun Patterns, and some of the Countryside Inn Designer Paper, which has been around since last year too (so lovely it stayed!)  And also the Something Fancy Stamp set (also a keeper from last year, I love this particular saying!)

Stampin' Up!, Fun Patterns Embossing folder

Next up is the Citrus Blooms Bundle, this was on my list because of the amazing dies! (plus we have an orange tree in our back garden)

Stampin' Up!, Citrus Blooms
Then the So Swirly Embossing folder (which incidentally is A5 sized!, it's feels so big🀣)  Oh and the Simply Said Stamp set, such a useful one with handy sayings.

Then last but not least this fun card using the Round we Go Bundle (and who can resist the new In Colour Glimmer Paper?)
Stampin' Up!, Round we Go

I hope you can come and join us, do let me know if you plan to, as the space is limited in my classroom, and if you can't join in, I hope these inspire you to create.

Something Saturday - Inchie equivalent card for those with an A4 Brain!

Hi there Creators,

Well today I thought I'd have a go at an "inchie" card, only mine (unsurprisingly for me) aren't inchies!

The idea behind it is that you have inch squares, which get attached to a background paper (which has been scored up before hand so you have lines to attach your inchies to, and embossed with an embossing folder, which then deletes the score lines.

However, as you have to cut your base card down to create an inchie card, I decided to do things "my way" hence "equivalent for an A4 brain"

Here are the 2 Inchie cards I received the first one from Simone my up-line as a swap at the Stampin' Up!event. She's used the beautiful vibrant Flowering Zinnias designer series paper and the second from Lee-Allan one of my down-line (which uses some paper that now I need to buy 🀣) check it out for yourself:  Natures Sweetness Designer Series Paper

Inchie Card, Stampin' Up!

Inchie Card, Stampin' Up!
then I got onto creating one - my size using retired Designer Papers (you can never have enough Christmas cards in May 🀣)
Inchie equivalent card, Stampin' Up!
and here's the one I create in the video using the gorgeous Perennial Lavender Designer Series Paper, Ooooo so pretty!  Oh and check out my new stamp set: Simply Said, great selection of useful sayings!
Inchie equivalent card, Stampin' Up!
then in the video I have a real dilemma of whether I should put my rectangles on straight or not, so I couldn't resist making one skewiff 🀣 (knew spell check wasn't going to like that word)  I really like the effect and I've brushed over top of it to make the embossing stand out better (used one of the Basics 3D embossing folders)

Inchie equivalent card, Stampin' Up!

Anyway I promised the measurements I've used, so here goes.....

My small rectangles are 3cm x 2.5cm (you need 6 each of 2 designs)

An A5 base card the front measures 10.5cm x 14.8cm

A mat to go onto the base card: 14.5cm x 10cm

A mat for the rectangles to sit on: 14cm x 9.5cm.   This is then scored round the edges at 5mm in, then scored at the 1/2 way mark of 7cm, and up from the bottom by 3.5cm.

The score lines give you easy grid lines to add the rectangles onto so they're straight.

Once they're stuck down, you then run it through (ideally a busy looking) embossing folder, which then removes the score lines, and voila all done.

I hope this inspires you to have a go too!

Something Saturday - Diagonal Cut Card x 2

Hi there Creators,

I received a gorgeous card from Lee-Allan (one of my Stampin' Up! downline), and I loved the layout of it, so she gave me permission to "case" is Case stand for "Copy and Share Everything".

Before I get going, I forgot to mention in the video, there is an amazing joining special for the month of May, where you can get the usual $235 of goodies for $169, but ALSO you get the New In Colour: Ink Pads, Stampin' Write Markers, Designer Paper, and A4 papers I think it worked out to $124 of extra goodies for free!!  if you want to find out more let me know, or go here:  Join Heather's Team

Here is her card:  How gorgeous is this using the new Mediterranean Blooms Designer Series Paper?

Stampin' Up!, Mediterranean Blooms DSP

Having inspected it thoroughly (as you do), I decided actually if I'm making one, then it really needs to be 2 (which is possibly what you're meant to do!)  read on for my measurements.......

Then I did a trial run myself with some old retired Designer Paper (never to soon to start making Christmas Cards 🀣) also managed to use up some of my scraps I had lying around the desk!

Stampin' Up! Diagonal Cut card
then I embarked on the video, and decided to use this gorgeous Meandering Meadows Designer Series Paper  I did discover that it's best to cover up the join at the top and it doesn't look fabulous, having said that it doesn't take much to do so, and it does add a pretty "extra".

Righty ho - on to measurements:

Base Card is A5 scored at 10.5cm and folded in 1/2 (which has a front of 10.5cm x 14.8cm)

Then the mat on top is 5mm shorter so: 10cm x 14.3cm (but don't attach this till you've added the DSP Designer Series Paper)

You'll need a piece of A6 (14.8cm x 10.5cm) to initially attach the DSP to.

DSP is cut to 13.8cm x 9.5cm then you put both pieces together and cut as shown in the photo below (just bear in mind you need 2 contrasting pieces of DSP) again retired DSP

Once you've got it cut take 3 matching pieces of DSP and add them to the colour you've chosen to "mat" them with, then cut them down, so there is a border, as shown:

stick it all together (the pieces with borders go on top of the other piece, and up on dimensionals)

 Hopefully that makes sense!

If you missed the video, here it itπŸ˜ƒ

I hope this inspires you to have a go too!

Something Saturday - Citrus Blooms

 Hi There Creators

Today I thought it would be fun to try out a technique I haven't done in ages - Paper Tole, using the new Citrus Blooms stamp set and dies.  Every so often I come across a stamp set that inspires me to do a spot of Paper Tole'ing, and this one has lots of dimension to it perfect for this technique.

To those of you who are saying "Paper Tole-what-ing?"  Paper Tole is a way of taking a picture and literally adding dimension by having several images of the same picture a and cutting out the various parts of it and laying them up, so the picture literally builds up and gives a 3D type image.

I thought it would make a beautiful framed piece (and a nice gift for a friend) - let me know what you think....

Citrus Blooms Bundle, Stampin' Up!
I did team it up with the fabulous sayings from Unbounded Love Stamp set (the dies that go with this stamp set are a must have!)

Then to create shiny bits I've added some of the fine tip glue pen which dries shiny clear😍

I also said in the video I'd see what else I could make up with the set, so here we go..... (and of course I had to use some of the new In Colours)

Citrus Blooms Bundle, Stampin' Up!

How fabulous are these dies!?  I love that as it cuts out the outside piece you get the great dotted inner piece!

you can just about see the Wink Of Stella I used on the leaves in this close up (looks so much better in person!)

I hope this inspires you to create (and look at your layer'ish stamp sets in a new way!)😁
