Something Saturday - A Million Thanks Kit

 Hi There Creators,

Well we're on the last week of August and the kits are still discounted, so I promise I'll move away from kits next week, but this "Million Thanks" is a lovely kit (currently this month reduced to $31.20 from $39), and you'll see you don't just have to stick to the kit!, especially as there are some extra bits in it, and you do get a stamp set & mini ink pad to continue creating with. (just think with a few different kits you'd end up with a few different ink pad colours, and a heap of stamps!), and Kits really are an amazing way to have a self-contained crafting session.

Anyway on with the photographic evidence.....  here are the 3 cards types you make with this kit (which incidentally creates officially 9 cards)  As you can see they have clear embossing on them so the surface is shiny in places.

I have also created this one using one of the spare labels and the piece that the heart pushes out from, then stamped using the little flowers in the stamp set, and added a spot of bling with the Brushed Brass Butterflies and Festive Pearls.

Then I can't remember which video I mention it it, but the boxes are fabulous for gifting things in and so easy to decorate up!  I've used the Fresh as a Daisy Designer Paper to pretty up this box 😊

I hope this inspires you to purchase a kit (ideally from my online store while they're on special, 😁  check all of the kits out here: Stampin' Up! Kits) and start playing.

Something Saturday - Cozy & Bright

 Hi there Creators

As August is Kit'tastic month (ie kits are reduced)  I figured it was high time to hop on and show off one of my latest kits, so here we go..

It's a Christmas kit called Cozy & Bright, I have liked the look of this kit for a while and did end up getting it for free at our recent Creative Collaborations Team event (woo hoo!)

Discovered once I opened it in the video that it actually does 12 cards, which at the discounted August price of $32.80 is actually a bit of a bargain, especially as it includes an ink stampin spot, a stamp set and a block!

Anyway I'm sure you're way more interested in seeing the creations that having me waffle!

this is the main card the kit creates:

then I cut one of the cards up to create 2 more cards....

Stampin' Up!, Cozy & Bright Kit
This first one I've fussy cut out some of the greenery, then used some gilded leafing on the background (which is the back of the card cut down) I've added a layer of gold foil cardstock underneath.  to see all I've used on this card click here: What Heather Used

This second card I've stamped all over the background with the same saying, then again used some of the fussy cut images, pressed out images, stickers and more, check out what I used for this card here: What Heather Used  personally I think I prefer this second card. Which is your favourite?

I hope this inspires you to create different things with your kits too.

Something Saturday - Magic Slider Card

 Hi There Creators,

Today I'm showing how I make a magic slider card, here is the original one I made up using the Bright & Beautiful Suite:

with the stamps I've used my Brights Stampin' Write Markers to create the rainbow effect by colouring directly onto the stamps, then you huff on the stamp to put moisture back onto it, then stamp it.

Then this is the one I made up in the video using the Online Exclusive Trucking Along Bundle, so cool, it's a punch and stamp set.

I've used the Gold Celebrations Specialty Designer Series "paper" I'd call it acetate!  as I thought it was kind of fun having the printed acetate instead of plain, and there's a bonus that one side is gold and the other is silver 😊  I've also stamped directly onto the Herringbone Ribbon, I love that you can do that with this ribbon as it's quite smooth, and wide.

I promised the measurements on here, so here goes, you'll need:

  • A 1/2 piece of A4 (cut lengthways), so it'll measure 29.7cm x 10.5cm,  this is then scored into 3 equal pieces, at 9.9cm (I just score at that both ends)
  • A piece of cardstock measuring 9.7cm x 12cm
  • A piece of window sheeting (acetate), I used patterned also measuring 9.7cm x 12cm
  • I've also used Brights Designer Series Paper, you'll need 3 pieces to cover the edges of the card, I've gone with 1.4cm x 10.5cm and scored down the length at 7mm

The other things you'll need are a punch or die to create the aperture in the front of the card, a stamp set which will work with your card, as you can see I've chosen with the first card, to create the interest in the die cut balloons when the card is "closed", and only stamped the saying onto the acetate (you'll want to use stazon ink for this, unless you plan to heat emboss).  Or you can pick a stamp set which can be coloured in, so the top image (on the acetate) you leave plain, then colour the image underneath, so the design pops when you pull the tab upwards, both ways create a great magical effect.

Something Saturday - Corner Fold Pop Out card

 Hi there Creators,

well today is an original design by me, I've called it "Corner Fold Pop Out Card".  Last weekend was our big Multi-team weekend Creative Connections event, and I was doing a presentation on the Bright & Beautiful suite, and taught this card at the end.

In our video today I've used the Inked Botanicals Designer Series Paper which is the same one I was using in my Something Saturday card last week.  I love that is has a Vanilla Base colour rather than white - gives my white cardstock a bit of a rest! 😁

Anyway let's show you the photos then instructions after....

So this is the card I taught at the Creative Connections event:

One of my friends suggested I should decorate the front of the card, so the one I did in the video now has this on the front of it:
Inked Botanicals Paper, Cheerful Daisies, Stampin' Up!
Then when you open it up, the daisies pop out, I felt this paper went well with the Cheerful Daisies Dies, so I've used the dies to die cut direct from the Designer Paper

Inked Botanicals Paper, Cheerful Daisies, Stampin' Up!
And you really need to decorate both sides of the pop out element, hence another bunch of daisies on this side too as the piece isn't symmetrical, I've just added the second lot on the wrong way round (if that makes sense!)

Ok, so how to make this card you will need
  • your usual A5 base card folded in 1/2 at 10.5cm, then folded in 1/2 the other way at 7.4cm
  • you'll also need 4 pieces of DSP measuring 2 3/4" x 4"
  • Piece of window sheeting (acetate) 1 1/2"x 3"
  • And decorative elements
Take the base card and use a bone scorer to fold it and crease the lines well (fold both folds inwards)
Along the bottom edge measure 7.4cm out from the middle on both sides, and mark lightly with a pencil.
Score from the pencil mark to the middle cross of your card, so you end up with a triangle at the bottom (see photo)
you will need to mountain fold the triangle at the bottom.  Before you add the window sheeting in you need to decorate it with the rectangles of Designer Paper
so imagine this next one has the Designer paper on it too, then sandwich the window sheeting into it and stick it well! (window sheeting coloured red here so you can see it)

Then decorate it up, word of warning - make sure when it folds up it will fit into your envelope, and also remember to decorate both sides of the window sheet.

I hope this inspires you to have a go at this, if you do, let me know how it turns out!
