Something Saturday - Inchie equivalent card for those with an A4 Brain!

Image
Hi there Creators, Well today I thought I'd have a go at an "inchie" card, only mine (unsurprisingly for me) aren't inchies! The idea behind it is that you have inch squares, which get attached to a background paper (which has been scored up before hand so you have lines to attach your inchies to, and embossed with an embossing folder, which then deletes the score lines. However, as you have to cut your base card down to create an inchie card, I decided to do things "my way" hence "equivalent for an A4 brain" Here are the 2 Inchie cards I received the first one from Simone my up-line as a swap at the Stampin' Up!event. She's used the beautiful vibrant Flowering Zinnias designer series paper and the second from Lee-Allan one of my down-line (which uses some paper that now I need to buy 🤣) check it out for yourself:  Natures Sweetness Designer Series Paper then I got onto creating one - my size using retired Designer Papers (you can never

Something Saturday - Cool Christmas Bauble

Image
Hi there Creators,  So in the run up to Christmas I thought I should show you this bauble I came across the other day in YouTube "Elena's Craft Studio - How to make a Christmas ball from toilet roll".  I'm upping the ante and going with Designer Paper, rather than toilet roll🤣 Anyway photos are always way more exciting than me waffling on (and they do say a picture says a thousand words)  Oh wow 2000 words already done!🤣 The first one I made with retired cardstock, just to try it out, I'm pretty sure in her video she used 13cm x 1cm strips, but I didn't see the harm in using 14.8cm x 1cm (as then it's 1/2 A4 length)  however turns out you need more strips if you make it larger!  ha, who knew?  anyway I still like the look and you get 8 petals instead of 6, so the one I show in the video I made up using the Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper , I scaled it down to the 13cm long, and end up with 6 petal shapes. I love the different designs on the

Cards for December Classes

Hi there Creators Wow we're at the end of the year again! my goodness that has come round fast!  Last card class for the year, of course focusing on Christmas cards.  Card class dates are: Maryborough: Saturday 2nd at 10.30am, then Wednesday 6th 10.30am and Thursday 7th at 7pm in my classroom in Laanecoorie.  Class cost is $24 for 4 cards - if you're coming please do let me know, and let's have a Christmas Celebration!  NB: the Maryborough class date is different to the one I originally had advertised as our Carol service at church is the following weekend and we have a rehearsal all day Saturday! Onto the cards: I had to use the Light the Sky bundle again, it's really one of my favourites! I've also discovered the absolutely gorgeous Rose Gold Specialty Paper , ummmm This next card I thought was kind of fun!  Using the Modern Oval punch to create the little bags, and the Merry Bold & Bright Designer paper , I felt it went well with the nice bold saying from

Fancy Fold Dangly Card

Image
Hi there Creators,  Today we're looking at a fancy fold card, that I really don't know if I've seen it somewhere, but I do know I went to make something completely different and this is what happened......🤣 Here are the cards I've made: (measurements as promised in the video, below) This is the first card I made up you can see the dangly "Happy Birthday" in the middle. An aerial view.... And the card I made in the video On to the measurements: You'll need a sheet of A4 cardstock, some designer paper and another coloured card to mat the designer paper, 2 bits of twine around 13cm each, 2 stamped sayings and a punch or die to cut them out to an appropriate size. cut the A4 card down to A5, and fold in 1/2 at 10.5cm, then fold both sides back (at 5.25cm), so it looks like both cards are concertina'd (top card I used Smoky Slate, bottom card Very Vanilla) Take one of these and cut the smallest circle into the middle of it I've used the Deckled Circles

Something Saturday - Budget Make-it-yourself present

Image
Hi there Creators, Hands up if you like a cheap, classy looking, hand-made Gift🤣 Oh I'm so glad you asked Heather (I can hear you saying, and would you look at that, Christmas is just round the corner - that's convenient! 😃) Ok, so I think this is a great little Christmas gift for anyone who has pens or pencils (well that's just about covered everyone!)  All you need is a tin - in my case the cats finally came through with something useful, Aldi Cat food tins (managed to wean them off the expensive Whiskars, shhh don't tell them, the cans are the same colour), some cardstock, and some Designer Paper. Here goes...... here are the 2 pencil tins I made up, see measurements below   Oh and I promised in the video to show you my can opener, it's a Kleva range one, and it leaves a nice rounded edge to the can Measurements are: (for Aldi Cat can) Inside and outside plain colour (I recommend using a darker colour for the inside, so pencil/pen marks don't show up so q

Something Saturday - Double Embossing

Image
Hi there Creators, So, today we're doing "double embossing" oooo!  First we dry emboss using an embossing folder (with a twist) then we heat emboss the same image 😃 Here are the cards I created from this technique: This is the first card I made before the video (and I was really happy with the way it turned out!  I've put versamark onto the embossing folder, then run the piece of Blackberry Bliss card through the Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, then heat embossed with silver embossing powder, I was so happy with the way it turned out I figured I should show you all how to do it too 😁  I've used the stamp set Light the Sky (which I think I used last week too!), the embossing folder Merry Melody , and Metallics heat embossing powders I also made this one up before the video, this time I embossed the Pretty Peacock cardstock, then lightly rubbed the versamark over the raised image, and heat embossed it with gold embossing powder.   Then I wondered how it

And the last one:     Sorry it's short & sweet this week, but I've got to run, got to go & collect Tom from hospital - just hoping he's ok to be home!   Hope these inspire you to create in your own space - would love to see you at class if you can make it - let me know 😊   God Bless love Heather xox

Something Saturday - Merry Bold & Bright

Image
Hi there Creators Today I thought we'd have a play with the cute Merry Bold & Bright Designer Series Paper , I made up this card before the video: For this one I've ended up stamping the sentiment from Joy to You stamp set , then clear heat embossing over the top (if you stamp with a normal ink it will rub straight off vellum, so you have to set it in place).  I did initially stamp directly onto the cardstock, but discovered that the paper is a little bit too busy for that, and it didn't show up, but I love using vellum, as you can still see the images through it (it's like adding a "transparency shape" to a picture in Word, which I also love doing)  How cool is the White Iridescent ribbon ?  and you can see the little Iridescent Adhesive backed discs in the corners of the vellum (ooo goldfish..... shiny..... )🤣 Then in the video I end up making a sleeve/wrapping for a couple of blingy gifts I'm sending off to people, very simple, cut the cardstock t
