Something Saturday - Hooray for Honeycomb Kit

Image
Hi there Creators, Today I thought we'd take a look at one of the new Kits that Stampin' Up! has brought out, it's really fun!, the name "honeycomb" kind of gives it away🤣 There are 9 cards to create, and it's a nice simple kit, would make an excellent gift for anyone who is thinking of starting off with card-making, there's no stamping involved - it's all "stick it together" and everything is included to do this.  At $32 it works out to $3.56 per card (which let's face it is pretty cheap for a card these days!) So here are the cards you can make (3 of each): Don't you just love the matching envelopes? The front of each card has clear embossed shiny bits on it (most obvious on the rainbow card at the top! with my photography) And there you have it, I haven't had the chance to play around and see what else I can create with this kit yet, so if you get it and do play around, let me know what you do! If you missed the video here it

GDP #261

Image
Hi there Creators, The Global Design Project #261 challenge this week is a colour challenge: (check out the link to see what others have done)   So I thought I'd join in again, and try out a card type I've seen someone else show off recently  I know it would have been on one of the Stampin' Up! facebook pages, I can't remember exactly what she used, but I liked the 3D'ness of it 😄 and I have no idea what the card is called possibly Diorama card would work?  anyway I set to work trying to work out how she'd done it (although I suspect if I could re-find hers she'd probably already done instructions lol)  I always seem to take the hard way..... So here is my "take" on it using these colours.  The inside is the impressive bit..... The outside not so impressive, but check out that gorgeous Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper !  I've teamed it up with the Ornate Layers Dies , and the super soft ribbon from the Basket Weave & Metall

Christmas Decoration

Image
Hi there Creators, I taught this decoration a couple of years ago, and one of my team asked me about it yesterday.  I though I'd done a video on it, but turns out I hadn't, so excellent opportunity to do a YouTube vid! Here is the decoration: It's so pretty and yet deceptively simple to make, I've used the 'Tis the Season Designer Series Paper , (DSP) which is currently 15% off this month (yay!) I picked out 6 different designs, and have alternated 2 in each layer.  To make the wreath itself you'll need  4 circles, I used the Layering Circles dies , 3 different sizes and you'll need 2 of the largest one 12 pieces of 3" square DSP (2 designs so, 6 of each) 12 pieces of 2.5" square DSP (2 designs so, 6 of each) 12 pieces of 2" square DSP (2 designs so, 6 of each) glue!  I recommend Tombow Adhesive (multipurpose liquid glue) You'll also want something to decorate the front of it with I used For Unto Us stamp set , and some matching ribbon,

Global Design Project #GDP260

Image
Hi there Creators, well I've been getting the emails from the GDP team, and I keep intending to join in again, so I figured it's at a zero number (260) I should re-start! Plus a new stamp set Gnome for the Holidays arrived that I've been waiting for! Here is the inspiration from GDP, the idea is to "CASE"= Copy and selectively edit So although my card looks nothing like Su's card, I noticed that she has used 2 embossing folders in the background, the middle one creating a sort of gap. So here is my entry, whilst I didn't use 2 embossing folders I did use one twice lol!  and my aim was to create the gap in between, with the rectangular middle piece and the saying I wanted the leaves from the Meadow Moments Embossing folder , to show through a bit, so that the rectangle wasn't so "harsh" on the card and covering over so much of the pretty border, therefore I chose to use vellum to stamp on.  I used Stazon Black to stamp, then coloured in with

Hand-made Birthday present

Image
Hi Creators,   I had to wait to share this with you till after I'd given it to my friend Jenny.  While Sam (my youngest son - 9 years old) and I were doing schooling over the last months, I bought some coloured clay which we made a few little bowls with, they're really cool!  I wanted to make a sort of swirly look with the clay which I think we achieved.  So when I was thinking about Jenny and her birthday I know how much she loves purple, and I thought I'd like to make her a purple bowl, I love that when I make something for someone, I get to think about that person while I'm making it and the great times we've spent together! I was remembering some of the Stampin' Up! events that we've been to together, Jenny was the first person to join my team, and I've been so blessed to have her there with me through so many fabulous events! Anyway I'm sure by now you're saying - get on with it Heather, let's see the photos!  So based on my ramblings,

How to colour in Flocked Vellum

Image
Hi there Creators, I've added a new video to my collection that I thought I'd share here with you too, (and the "still" photos) In the August to December "mini" catalogue there is this gorgeous flocked Vellum called Plush Poinsettia Specialty Paper .  It's so pretty on it's own, but I really wanted to work out ways to colour it in too, so I've devised 3 ways you can do this, as I mention in the video I don't recommend using Stampin' Blends on the flocking itself as if you overdo it it'll rub it right off.   Hence my first method is using the normal ink pads and daubers, where you rub the colour into the flocking, Here's how it turns out: The second technique is where you turn the vellum over, putting it onto a dark surface and colour on the back using Stampin Blends (alcohol markers), this is how this technique turns out: And the last technique is to colour directly onto the flocking with Stampin' Write Markers, (very carefu

Bikers Father's Day card

Image
Hi there Creators Happy Father's Day! some of you may know that my husband Tom, has an Indian Dark Horse motorbike, he recently got a new helmet for it (which at the time I said, you know that's your Father's day presy!)  anyway I thought I'd make an appropriate "biker" card - here is the bike! (he's keen on matt black) So I figured I could maybe make a helmet card, my initial attempt wasn't too successful and after checking with child #2 Josh (also loves motorbikes) it got re-vamped and here is the final result, which I'm pleased to say Tom was impressed with :) As you can see I've used some window sheeting for the visor with a couple of brads -one each side so the card bottom can separate, and the visor can go up and down (I was pretty cuffed to be able to do this!) Although the main join is at the top (I started with an A4 sheet folded in 1/2, and cut from that)  I've added the silver mouth breathing piece, this does join up one side of
