Something Saturday - Christmas Favours Boxes

Image
Hi there Creators Today I thought I'd show off these little Christmas Favours Boxes.  Rose came to class the other day with one and I forgot to take photos, but I think this is pretty similar, so cute! The link to all the products used can be found here:  Christmas Boxes products used (if you're reading this let me know if this makes it easier to see the products used, I usually put up individual links for everything but thought I'd try something new, and potentially easier!) Anyway onto the photos..... the front: The lift up flap at the front The Back And I wanted to show off the gorgeous little "Low Profile Sparkle Dots", not sure if it really shows up as well as it could I've just realised in all the photos you don't really see the box! That's ironic! so here's one of the box! Right now I can give you the measurements for the box! Really simple: 12cm x 12cm, then score in each side by 4cm. then cut as shown: fold in the flaps and glue togethe...

Something Saturday - Gatefold Bow Card

Hi There Creators,

If you've ever made a gatefold card, with a ribbon that attaches all the way round it to keep it shut, you'll know it gets to it's recipient who then can't redo a bow, and it never quite looks the same again 🤣

So I was contemplating this as I was playing around with a gatefold card the other day and thought why couldn't the tied bow just be a faux one? that doesn't actually keep the card closed, but looks good?

Enter the "Gatefold Bow Card" (cos I didn't know what else to call it🤣)  There is probably not an easy way to be perfectly honest to make your bows look good, what it takes is practice and playing around with it once it is made (sometimes it takes a well placed mini glue dot 😉)  I used some of the Iconic Celebrations Designer Series Papers they come in 6x6" and designed to be suitable for all occasions.

Ok, here are the cards I created in the end:

for this one I also use the Peaceful Season Bundle, the Iridescent Striped Trim (such fabulous ribbon, literally goes with every colour!)  and the Festive Glimmer Paper.

This next card also uses the same paper and ribbon, but this time the stamp set is borrowed from Sweetest Star Bundle.

And lastly the card that started it all off..... I was asked for some more baby cards for church, so this uses the fabulous Bright & Beautiful Designer Series Paper and a few retired goodies (I've actually had this word set from when I first joined Stampin' Up! back in May 2008 it was one of the first ones I bought!)

Gatefold cards are quite easy to make, you take your A5 piece, and score in each side at 5.25cm, fold and voila.  Often Gatefold cards have ribbon all the way round, tied in a nice bow at the front, but you can make it look just as good by tying the bow separately then attaching it only to one side , making sure the ribbon goes all the way round the card anyway, but tuck it under the designer paper on the front each side.  You can't really see that in the above photos, hopefully this one makes it clearer:

If you missed the video here it is:

I hope this inspires you to have a go at creating Gatefold cards with "faux" closure bows yourself

God Bless love
