Something Saturday - DSP & Blends

Image
Hi There Creators Today I thought I'd show off an idea that Claire our Stampin' Up! Demonstrator Development Manager showed us in a workshop the other day, I took it a bit further in one of my cards, let me know which card is your favourite! If you'd like to see all the goodies I used on these cards click here:  DSP & Blends Turtles Cards Here are the cards I ended up creating The first 2 I've just used the blends to go round each of the images on the designer paper, I really love the way the images get highlighted from it, almost a "stained glass effect" This first card I also used the blend on the white card base under the Designer Paper to give a border This second card I used the Blend around the edge of the Designer paper to draw a line  (I did use a ruler to do this!) again to create a border. Then this last one I've gone round the edges again with the darker Pool Party blend, but then blended in the lighter one in all the gaps. I actually did g...

Embossing folders 3D & Standard

Image
Hi There Creators,  I had a request to do an Embossing folders video, so that's what this weeks video is all about.  They can be a little confusing as they come in small, medium and large, Standard and 3D.  And how do you know how to get them through your machine so they actually work? Stampin' Up! has 2 Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machines, the mini and the standard.  The Standard one is a similar size to the Bigshot (I find it has a tad more room for the plate, the Bigshot used to shave bits off my plates if I didn't have them lined up exactly, I haven't noticed that with the Cut & Emboss machine) Anyway, as you'll see from this picture our embossing folders come in a thin (small) size, which would emboss around 2/3 of your card front, a Medium size, which completely embosses your A6 card front and also a "large" which is 6" x6" sized (handy if you want the pattern on an angle!)   An important tip is to make sure the fold of the embossin...

Creating Pearly Paper

Image
Hi there Creators, I was surfing YouTube the other day looking for nothing in particular and came across a video from a lady in the State called Linda Heller who was showing how to create Pearlized paper, I thought it was so cool that I had to have a go too! It involves Cardstock, a blending brush and a pot of Frost White Shimmer Paint (so tempting to say a pot of gold lol)     Anyway, moving on...... the general gist is you use the blending brush to brush the card stock with the frost white shimmer paint, and then do whatever you're going to do with it, here's what I did!... I've used the amazing Sand & Sea Suite, in particular the Friends are like Seashells bundle and the Seashells 3D embossing folder (it pack a really WOW!) Sadly it's really hard to capture the pearly effect it gives in a photo (or at least it is for me!)  However I've made a little video to go with it, so do check this out too: I hope it inspires you to have a go, God Bless love  He...
